  • Well one is "shit. Time to apply to another 500 jobs to get another interview"

While the other is "hurray, I won't be going homeless this year. Time to sell my soul for barely enough to live"

  • In a functioning society, these things would have been recalled a dozen times by now. But the owner of the company is frenemies with the fucking president so we just have to live with fire bomb hazards driving on our streets

  • I can't wait to watch Star Trek: Babylon 5

  • They're both magnificent

  • I found the episode, s4e7 "... But to Connect"

  • Damn, it must have been tough exploring the galaxy for weed without any replicators or money

  • you can think of any Star Trek scene in which a crowd of people all raise their hands

What about that scene from Discovery where the Federation votes on what to do about the Anomaly that destroyed Brook's Booker's planet?

  • Clearly we need to make the constitution protect the right to housing, clean food, and, clean water

  • Yo, why the fuck are there active duty foreign soldiers openly conducting espionage on US soil

  • Hence the creation of the term Before Common Era, or BCE

  • I mean, that's a reasonable rule of thumb, but there are definitely limits. It seems that they chose to follow the rule regardless of practicality. Helper functions are nice and good. Almost as good as recursion. Recursive helper functions are nicer and gooder

  • The cycle ends here kills Picard

  • I never let my phone get below 60%, so no one should be disappointed with me

  • Sure, but Netflix has a lot of cache misses for my favorite shows. I found a random website that has compressed matches for thousands more shows and movies than Netflix

  • People are walking around in an area that has shared use with pedestrians and cars. The person is saying that the public is intolerable because they aren't showing total deference to a car

  • If we set the bar at "better than Trump", we're going to get someone worse than Trump within 10 years.

  • Yes, exactly. That's why we need to be organizing counter power to the state, so we can supplant it with a broad coalition of the working class as they recede from their duty to support us.

  • I learned about the political turmoil going on in the Teamsters at Labor Notes this year, in fact Labor Notes bent to the group that backs Sean O'Brien this year and banned a Teamster that is fighting against this group. Basically, a 50 year old reform caucus known as Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) ended up backing O'Brien, who purged the reform caucus so they won't survive if he gets ousted. A different reform caucus that formed a couple years ago is pushing for the radical changes we know and love from reform caucuses. The person banned from Labor Notes this year is a key organizer for that caucus.
