  • no he got a point. If someone started doing that they would just get captured and tortured or killed. What can you meaningfully achieve with random violence, alone? Owning a gun will not help you protect yourself against force that can hunt you down and use your loved ones as leverage. Its just copium so people dont organize thinking they have power to protect themselves if things get bad but they never will use it because they are alone and scared, rightfully so.

  • just dont make this too obvious to the companies that do this if its possible, otherwise they will try to hide their bots better.

    Also, is there a "tos" for open source projects, kind of like what is acceptable behavior and what is not? Directly calling out ai generated "contributions" as malicious and unwanted would at least remove the facade from them as non hostile.

    Like, if someone trys to add malicious code to the project, that is definitely gainst some kind of agreement, no? So add slop to it too.

  • before internet, local problems remained local though. now everything is kind of in the same pot. I guess there are objectively less problems now than before, but before individual people had to deal with only local problems and maybe some from further away if things got really bad there.

  • they want to suppress the developers, not users. By making it so bothersome, so many people will just stop using sources from outside google play. First they do this and at some later time they will add more hoops to it. If they manage to strangle any developers that make stuff, people will have nowhere to turn yet they cant complain either because google will have undeniable monopoly.

  • using llm to program is nuclear bomb level security disaster in making. Eventually they will have ousted anyone competent out and affter that no one will be there to fix the security flaws that llm generated code creates. I just hope the companies that get the worst of the consequences also deserve them.

  • i can even kind of think of how to manage something like that, it would just work on only with 100% remote work and would also require quite a lot of cooperation, competency and trust from the clients. and it would still require you to "acquire the goods", as in get a job. But then you could share it with other people. So in the end multiple people would be pretending to be one person, but since the load is shared each could do multiple different "persons".

  • the problem was probably more about being suspected as an operative for north korea.

    though i wish i knew what methods they used to make the guy appear like perfect hire if he actually is an operative, maybe it might be useful information to actually just get a job. Getting a job nowdays feels more like trying to "steal" yourself a place in society rather than just being part of society. Having a job is a privilege.

  • "safe" level does not mean ineffective level. Maybe its not danger to health but it can still cause something bad. Maybe it accumulates in time, maybe it cases changes in the body that cause something slight that you wouldnt even think to link to this.

  • one thing i have noticed here is that often people will engage in actually productive discussion even if they disagree. I also welcome being corrected, often that is the best thing here since it lets me actually learn/correct something with my thoughts.

  • using and trusting llm at all for something like this is the crime here..

    but then again, maybe this is just test run for taking away "unwanted" people, using handily mistaken facial recognition as excuse. If cases like this start happening more its propably that, and if they start happening enough people will lose interest and it wont be covere by media so much anymore. And after that they have neat system where they can capture anyone they want and can claim "mistake" if they get caught.
