I could create the same wlan at home. I could even vpn that to the office. Layer-2 if i want to .... But wait! My boss does not care! If I do my job and do it well I can do it from a beach, a bar, a jacuzzi, from my bed, it doesn't matter
I've had immich but went to homegalley instead. Mostly because I want to keep MY directory structure in case I'm abandoning the choosen platform. Have not regretted my choice (so far ... 8 months)
absolutely right. Just like airline tickets, hotels and the like. Marketing got in the way...... Look we only cost 5 euro but the 299.87 worth of fees we have to add and/or collect on behalf of others makes the price go up.
Well guess what, so has the competitors! And guess again: I don't give a shit about that break-down, just give me the final figure. That's what I have to pay. So that all matters doesn't it? No need for you to tell me how you spend it, the money yours after the sale.
That's just the tip of the iceberg of printer issues. I'm in networking, don't get me started on networking and security issues involved in printing "solutions"
I'm not against this initiative, but there are others besides HP and Brother.
While maybe it's not self repairable (did not break down since I bought it years back so I have not yet tried) other than nozzle clogging which once happened but is an easy fix. It's hardly customizable which have not been a limitation so far. So i'm happy with my Epson ET printer that takes any ink I feed it.
It was never about the money (for me at least) It's enjoying something you made yourself and enjoying making it.
That's why I do all my home renovations/reconstructions/improvements myself. It takes much more time but it's done how I want it and I can modify the plans underway without implications. Not having to wait 6+++ months for a contractor and the lower price are nice, but that's nothing compared to the feeling and pride of having built it yourself. That feeling lasts many, many years.
Electronics. Components are getting harder to get (internet orders makes hem expensive) and my eyes are no longer that good when soldering (even with glasses)
Which means the hands will move back and forth at random so you'll never know for sure what time it is. ;)
