  • Did you mistype? I don't understand what you're trying to say

  • I note that birds, which evolved eating grains, don't have teeth

  • Yeah. It's "big cats" and "great apes" I'm just hoping the name was made when great just meant big (I do know they named them before they knew we were in that picture)

  • Cane and Abel tells us the gods don't like vegetable farmers, that want meat

    Meat doesn't damage your teeth

Incidentally the damage from sugar is fermentation - it makes carbonic acid (the stuff that makes soda fizzy) which is a weaker acid than citric

Citrus didn't make it to Europe quickly - it came from China

  • The mortality of mothers only became a big issue between doctors being in charge of birth and hand washing becoming a rule

  • Tails aren't particularly common on great apes

  • The teeth thing is just because of our high sugar, high grain diet

The first* people with bad dental health were Egyptians as they lived on bread (which packs your teeth and feeds the bacteria that ferment it and make acid) before that, and until the invention spread, people died of old age with all their teeth intact

I eat very low carb - almost entirely meat due to allergies, and haven't had a cavity since I started doing that, despite me nearly never brushing or flossing my teeth

*There were also people who lived in the tropics and ate a lot of fruit, and those with sugar cane.

  • I used to really like an apple turnover. Warm, with cream

  • Yeah. I'm good at spelling, but I still read over my errors and don't see them until after pressing send

I edit so many of my own comments right after tapping submit, I have set up a five minute delay on outgoing email for the same purpose

  • Accretion disc. Your word scans like a real word but seems less than palatable

The atom model we're talking about is really, really unlike an atom

  • Wombats live in pretty flat lands. I doubt shit rolling has anything to do with it

  • It just was not much different to 98 and had less good UI

  • keyboard layout resets

Most people don't care as they only have one layout. You and me are odd. I usually set my preferred layout as default

  • It's going to annoy me. I keep the task bar on the bottom on my machine and on the side for remote/virtual machines

  • I wouldn't, but only because I enjoy writing, even for email

  • I have a friend who's a new PM (in scaled agile). He isn't up on expectation management.

We have a process where we request data from another agency which takes "from 7 seconds to 12 days"

And of course he tells people that. And of course they hear "7 seconds"

I have told him that if the SLA is 12 days, say "less than 12 days"

  • Wombats, koala, kangaroo, and emu eggs are easier to catch/find and were the main meat in places where those are common

  • I would rather Australian risks than those of bears and big cats

Aussie snakes try to keep away from people, they aren't aggressive.

Our spiders are so like those elsewhere (compare Redback to black widow)

You're unlikely to see a kangaroo in water. If you do, keep away from it just like you keep away from wild animals anyway
