  • I really wonder about fusion. Most of the news of energy production higher than energy input is about non-electricity fusion - the big tokamak fusion systems are not yet producing more power than they take to run, but scientists working on them are expecting good results soon

    Like when I was a kid fusion was 20 years away and would always be 20 years away. Now it looks like it'll be 5 years away for a while

    It's a bit shit. Lots of people have trouble with it, lots of English as a second language people have trouble with not understanding what is replaced by the apostrophe

    Colour need not be on the rainbow. Colour is the human experience of colour which includes purple

    Our minds don't care whether a color is pure or whether it is a mix. We see those colors.

    Like the berries there are technical definitions of colour that don't mesh with the common definition

    My take on the word highlights individual freedom except where it interferes with other individual's freedoms

    My take has most regulation put on corporations, ie. you and I are pretty free; Google has rules to follow (and so does the butcher, baker, and candlestick maker)

    To make it clear the common liberal position is individuals should be free to do as they want unless it is harmful to others; companies should be regulated enough to protect people, the environment, competition

  • I have rescued so many fruit flies from my beer. You hardly need to drown them, just present them with a 5% ethanol by volume solution and let them drown themselves

    (My beer system is outside in my courtyard, fruit flies love the drip tray)

    The trap: get a plastic fizzy drink bottle; bigger is better

  • It may be you're allergic to something in your food. I used to get chronic low grade urticaria on my upper arms that antihistamines wouldn't touch but it went away when I went on a very limited exclusion diet (nothing but beef)
