  • Yes, but a fan of so much that I may have heard of that before Vsauce covered it. Vsauce is much good though, all of them have some credit

  • See also ghoti (fish). English orthography only works by agreement, not rules

  • No, it's pronounced GIF

  • I was a non violent youth when I first saw an fstab, perhaps that got me thinking "F S tab"

  • Idiot. Using English letters to try to represent sounds they don't normally make. It didn't work for gif (pronounced commonly as gif instead of jif), why would they think it would work for them?

  • I work in government IT, and AWS is used there too. I prefer working with a team delivering a COBOL data cruncher service, though the build people have it easier when the job is just connecting a source to a sink in AWS

  • At least you can accurately point the finger at who's responsible

  • I feel like this name addresses the problem of services claiming to be microservices when they're not.

Does that even happen? cat is micro, sed is micro, systemd isn't and doesn't claim to be

  • Thanks, I think I picked up that idea from that SeaWorld. I'll stop repeating it now.

  • It's scientific name is Eudyptula novaehollandiae

It's common name in Australia in general was 'fairy penguin', but there has been effort to boost alternative names because they word fairy was a pejorative name for gay men

  • Let's leave some space for all the types of infinities and only fill every hundredth room

  • If you want to capture the most of the carbon, you cook the wood in an oxygen free environment turning it to charcoal and liberating volatile components (which could be used as carbon neutral fuel to run the furnaces)

Nothing can eat charcoal, so it could be stored cheaply

  • The hotel should really just fill its even numbers rooms first, then if another person turned up after you already have an infinity of guests, you just house this start of a new Infinity in room 1 etc

  • Right. So all we need to do is deposit the wood in anoxic water and bury it.

  • Until they burn or rot and release the carbon back into the air

Also trees only grow where trees grew in the past, so growing new forests will only capture the carbon that was released when the old forest there was burnt or cut

  • Oil came from plants before there were bacteria that can digest wood

  • I sort by new comments, so this thread would have appeared in my feed because that previous person commented in it

  • It's testicle size that tells you how often you need to fuck in a day. On that we're moderate among the great apes
