  • Luckily I don't need to read or write bytecode and all that matters to me is the syntax

  • You do get the if in the middle of stuff though in the form print(debug message) if $debug

  • If you add "m." before XKCD like: https://m.xkcd.com/3101/ you can tap the image to display the alt text and then copy it

  • All plastics have the plastic type code embossed on them

I feel my daughter who was a baby in the early 2000s got some plasticisers in her drink bottles before those problem chemicals became widely known, but she was better off than my generation who got worse chemicals because less was known

  • Tap water doesn't exactly have loads of electrolytes. I think though the normal advice is to give small children boiled water to protect them from water borne illnesses

It's probably more important in places with less safe water

  • I don't think you have ever bought a sippy cup. Cheap plastics don't come with any paper except maybe a tag or sticker with a bar code

  • Email is quite a bit safer than people think, especially if you host your own. Typically it is encrypted from point to point, so if a company emails me it goes through their internal system to their gateway, is encrypted using SSL and transmitted directly to my server where it's stored until I connect over an SSL encrypted link to download my mail

Even an ISP will have almost everything encrypted as it really is the default now

There's practically no chance for a man in the middle attack

I do accept unencrypted mail but nothing arrives on port 25 (unencrypted email) except scam attempts to get spam forwarded (which are denied)

  • I don't mind reading a blog post from the past like that. Maybe it'll prompt some modern comments about real mode

  • What are the arguments

"Protect delicate children's eyes from seeing nudity"

    I think that's about it

  • They got down voted there too

  • The lights have use, I cover them with black electrical tape to dim them sufficiently

  • I think it's that everyone picks the same six colours

  • choas

    Jump
  • I think before that even

  • choas

    Jump
  • Remember the phrase "it's not in-pattern". Another one is "it's possible, but expensive"

  • choas

    Jump
  • My bg3 character is female. She was in slacks until act 3 where she could finally have a dress

We looted everything. I feel like there are two dresses in the game: the robe Gale wears and a white dress you find in a Balders Gate house near the end of the game

  • Not just that. The tax preparation industry has gotten tax more complex and harder to file in the US

You get the government you can afford. The tax preparation industry has been able to buy several governments

  • Most of the F keys had other meanings, so shift, as all shifted f keys were open

    Every other application

Don't blame Microsoft for other applications not being localised

  • I wonder if Nintendo will ever embrace repairability like some phone companies have

I guess there's more competition in phones than in devices that can run Mario Cart

  • Yeah, it is harder to do. Specifically

    • you need to remove stickers in a way that you can replace them, if you want to keep them looking good
    • You need to undo glue, iFixit used isopropyl alcohol and force
    • Once you're in its fairly easy to replace parts, but Nintendo don't supply parts
    • Batteries are glued down, you need to destroy the foam beneath them to get the batteries out, Nintendo don't sell replacement foam, or even a specification for the foam

By being harder it will be more costly to repair
