  • I’ve been a plaintiff in a civil case and it gave me such a horrible perspective on our legal system that I kind of wonder if anyone would ever select me for a jury, if they asked me the right questions.

  • I have a slightly niche need for a high heel that I can stand still in for a while. I found that, for my feet at least, if I wear flats, my heels hurt; if I wear high heels over a certain height, the balls of my feet hurt. The sweet spot for me is a heel of 1.5 inches (sorry for the freedom units). The ones I ended up getting and liking (after trying a few) were the brand Cobb Hill. They ran me slightly over $100, so I didn’t love that part, but they have a nice solid heel that I didn’t find so square that it was ugly, and they’re relatively comfy. I can’t say that after wearing them for three hours, mostly standing still, that my feet don’t hurt, but they hurt a loooot less than anything else I’ve tried.

  • I hope my generation (millennial) lives up to this man’s hopes for us. It sucks that we have to wait even that long.

  • Same! Though I was a bit older. Wanted to finish it right away so that it wasn’t spoiled for me. And these days I feel the same as you do.

  • As I understand it, that’s very normal with cats with point coloration.

Hope you’re doing well post-surgery! Looks like you have an excellent in-home nurse to look after you.

  • Wait wait. You’re starting with Engel’s “Many Waters?” Isn’t it book 4 in a series where book 1 (“A Wrinkle in Time”) is considered a classic?

It’s been a long time but I remember liking book 2 a whole lot. I never did get book 5, though I think there is one?

  • Yes but also is that just Rothfuss’ excuse when fans call him out about plot inconsistencies? Because that’s how I heard that “explanation” came about.

  • I took it that way too honestly. Honestly it made me skip reading the rest of your argument until I saw the comments below it talking about what you actually meant, so yeah, syntax is annoying but necessary for getting the point you want to make across. (I did go back and read the rest of your argument.)

  • Wow seeing that gif was a forcible mental teleportation back into the early 90s.

  • Most Californians don’t call it “Cali.” At least not where I live.

  • C’mon

  • My bridesmaids wore white. The inspiration was an old tradition where the wedding attendants were there to trick evil spirits so that the spirits wouldn’t know who was actually getting married. I mean obviously that’s stupid but I liked the idea and they looked lovely.

  • His hands look older than his face. Hard to believe he’s 95.

  • Mine has a setting for sound off, which is great because it is a horrific loud beep, three times that doesn’t stop even if you try to interrupt it with a button or by opening the door. Anytime we have a power outage, it resets and I turn that damn beep off before I even change the clock because it annoys me so much.

  • ...why don’t you just go to Wikipedia to begin with? I’m honestly asking. URLs still exist.

  • “President Trump is not worried”

Welp, I’m satisfied, how about you? /s

  • I’ve heard that too; I’m not a WF shopper myself but a lot of other parents at my kids’ school are and that’s what they’ve told me. Bonkers.

  • I’m 60% through the last book, it’s so good!

  • That explains a lot. Private equity kills everything it touches.

  • The chain grocery store near us (Safeway) has had stupidly high prices since the pandemic. I decided I’m not going to shop there anymore unless I really have to. We are lucky to have a locally-owned, small chain grocery store very close to us. Prices are high but honestly not much if at all higher than Safeway and I’d rather pay a small premium to help them stay in business. Also I doubt they would ever opt into something like this stupid price scheme, but Safeway absolutely would and will.
