  • I am aware how it works but have trouble to set my pangolin up just Like the tail scale app to create this kind of network instead of just serving the content as a vps via an URL

  • Same problem regarding security because if you leave it up to jellyfin to do auth you are betting on the wrong horse. With pangolin auth in front of it you have the same problem as before. Clients can't handle the additional auth.

Or am I misunderstanding the concept of tunnels wrong? I am using pangolin as a reverse proxy with nice VPN management included. How do you the tail scale style "connect this client to this network that has the jellyfin server on it" thingy?

  • So what are you using and recommending?

  • Depends if only a few people use it or tens. Then it can range from a potato to a decent oc not older than 8years.

  • Does somebody know more about the part where Bambu claims that orca is 'hacking' their cloud? How? By using the API? By actually breaking something?

  • Do You know more about the email server part? I understand +addressing but this seems to be more? Do You hand a domain over and it is actually a full MX or is it just an imap client?

  • I mean ... We all KNEW but we're afraid to speak up.

(If it turns out that this theory is crap I want you to forget this comment and I'll simply delete and repost it when the next theory comes around. )

  • Not using it is a way of distancing yourself. I agree. But the bigger issue to me Is that they are making money from the work of others without giving back. It's an ethical question for me and I want to change that behaviour not just in regards to me as a customer but as a whole for the industry to foster the advancement of the technology itself.

  • Afaik the firmware is self developed and closed source, so not free. as in freedom of code and free as in beer.

The software slicer is based on prusa slicer which is based on slic3r which uses the agplv3 which dictates that all works derived from the original code needs to be published as code under the same license. They do that. But the trick is that they add closed source modules that are essential for the whole system to work and therefore control their devices and ecosystem via restrictive licenses or plain unavailability of sources.

Regarding creality : the last time I used a creality printer it used marlin as firmware and it was trivial to compile and flash and modify.

But in general you don't need to make your product easy to jailbreak under most ooensource licenses, you need to publish the code. Those are two different things.

  • I sold my x1c at a loss and got a core one when they announced Indx. It is less polished and I need to tinker. But it is ooensource all the way through and that is worth it. To me.

  • Please look up ooensource because it is a lot more nuanced than that and there are a lot of different approaches and even definitions of open source.

  • Sure thing. You absolutely understood my point.

  • You don't know where I started. You know that I asked that question. It is not where I started. I thought about the implications and why technology is not the issue but the application of said technology. Also that acceptance or tolerance by a society comes into play.

I couldn't figure out what their angle was for blackmail was because you need one to be successful. So I asked that question.

It is not victim blaming, it's asking about circumstances I am not familiar with since I couldn't be there and see for myself. I can't read minds you know.

And by the way the saying that only a person willing to do something wrong can be conned could be a nice angle for blackmail. If you catch a person doing something wrong makes them vulnerable. I KNOW that somebody would use footage of that to blackmail somebody.

AI didn't come into play here for me until somebody pointed it out.

So take your tool out of my bag and relax.

  • Yup, that's where I started. You can tell because apparently you can read minds and stood right next to me as well when I started to think about this.

  • Is that a realistic Approximation of energy usage? This seems a lot to me, even over the span of one day

  • Fingerprinting is real and we know it. Not because of the site but because every software dev I know who works in a net startup tells me that they do the basics and more. They won't talk about the more.

  • How did you know about my platypus kink? Please send it to me.

  • I assume you are using a hardened steel nozzle. But still, I am wondering if the repeated friction between copper and steel would damage the steel also. A lot slower than a regular nozzle, but it's like a thousand needle pricks as I understand it. How is your nozzle holding up?

  • Ooof.
