  • if you think that the us has no interest in the geopolitical situation in Iran you are mistaken. Even if Israel wouldn't exist there would be oil.

Also trump isn't interested in human rights and regime change in Iran, he wants somebody they can control.

Also trump doesn't call the shots obviously. The people hiding behind the orange are.

  • Hmm. Assuming you have some small hydrazine or whatever booster you could maintain a low orbit for a while. But yes not endlessly. That bring said there is a middle ground between 400km and 34000km that might provide for a good orbit and acceptable ping. That all depends on the application of course.

  • Servers get replaced that often because they are using too much energy for too little computing power compared to newer generations. If the module is already up there and functioning and energy is free then it's a whole different thing.

    Defects are another topic.

And the whole thing is obviously crazy for a whole lot of other reasons.

  • Not trying to be an asshole, just giving info: the radiation shielding on earth is achieved (mostly?) by the magnetic field that diverts the big particle cannon ammunition.

  • No, that works well with Starlink for example. But only because it's in low earth orbit. In geostationary orbit You do in fact have a horrible ping.

Not being familiar with the details of this Elon brain fart I would hope they didn't aim for geostationary... Because why?? Then again who knows with that idiot.

  • I switched from tail scale to pangolin for reverse proxy. Does everything. Auth, VPN, hidden services, public services. Fantastic piece of software

  • This is beautiful!

I was looking for a way to stream to sonos, an I just blind or is it not implemented?

  • Don't know if this fits for your use case but I am in love with pangolin.

  • Pcie is ridiculously fast. I think you will have a hard time making out even a 1x pcie 4.0 slot with hdds. It can do 1.9 gbytes per second.

  • This developed further. Better be done with it and stay safe. Read the linked reddit thread for info.

  • That sounds like you are on it! Let us know where land.

So far this is nothing id consider as evidence but as plausible speculation. Not necessarily wrong but ... It's not enough for me to put my money on it.

  • Do you have any information such as sources You could point me to?

  • Sorry but no. That is ik no way a competitor to regular manufactures. That is like building a soap box car and thinking Chrysler is gonna sue you.

3d printed guns are interesting because they can be made to not trigger metal detectors. Iirc the models I have seen were single use only. Don't think accuracy is great either.

  • Okay then I made a poor choice in wording. I meant the passive aggressive approach instead of full on. This is different now.

  • Borgmatic for the less masochistic

  • I switched to pangolin and I am amazed how well it works.

  • Regarding calculators: I meant that a new technology is always met with resistance. Rightfully or not is another subject. That was my point. Not ai adoption equals calculator adoption.

Regarding my opinion and winning over people: I responded to comments that were hostile (my perception). For me that's something else than trolling under comments. But hey that is another topic I really don't want to get into.

Regarding understanding: I am absolutely open to get educated if I got things wrong. What do You mean by AI being something else in principal than a algorithm that searches good next steps for a task while comparing it to previously learned content as a goal while incorporating the prompt? I understand it as an n dimensional vector field that looks for weights and tries to produce something resembling the prompt. For images that mostly enough (if you don't want to replace artists as in creativity, although taking work away from them). For text answers asking for facts that is horrible as we all know. Plausible is not enough there and the concept is fundamentally flawed.

I just looked up stochastic and you are right it's the wrong word. I can't think of a better one. If You can please let me know.

I hope this comments shows you that I am able to reasonably converse and am not, at all costs, picking fights.

  • It's the day of the lard after all.

  • Nit art but aesthetics. Similar but not the same.

And since AI is a stochastic machine that falls perfectly into its scope. Doesn't have to be "true" as in a correct answer but plausible eg similar to other models.
