  • Protests don't hinder such organization though, and they can connect and embolden people. They're valuable as long as they're not all that gets done.

  • The USA has become one of those countries where critics of the government are disappeared. And it only took a couple of months to get there. So much for the American commitment to free speech.

    Don't go to the USA.

  • In Windows, Foobar2000 does easy audio file conversions, once you have installed the relevant codecs.

  • Even better, the whole HP printer is optional.

  • That is exactly how the Nazis in charge are thinking about this. They assume they'll make it through because they're constitutionally superior, while the weak die and are no longer a burden on the Übermenschen.

  • We're going to have at least two pandemics at the same time, and the USA will have no government left to deal with it, just a few kooks and Nazis with their theories of eugenics, random vitamins, bleach, horse dewormers and survival of the most racially superior.

  • You joke, but... sigh...

  • Billionaires hoarding wealth, and slavery.

  • Someone has to be able and willing to enforce the law though. And the people have to be able and willing to remove officials who won't.

  • They've seized the Kennedy Center for the arts in Washington DC. We can expect Hitler Trump Youth displays and campaigns against degenerate art, starting here and spreading across the country.

  • This guy is always throwing tantrums when people ask questions. He must imagine it means he's in control. He clearly has no life skills, unless being a bitter little Nazi counts as a life skill. Look at him throwing around accusations of being "a degenerate": he even borrows his vocabulary from his hero Goebbels.

  • But measles carries a significant risk serious long-term illness or death, unlike the vaccine. And when everyone has the vaccine, very few people get the disease due to herd immunity, which worked fine for decades. Why can these people not hold two facts in their mind at the same time?

  • There's ignorance and there's stupidity. Stupidity will stubbornly resist any attempt to correct its ignorance.

Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice. One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leaves behind in human beings at least a sense of unease.

    Against stupidity we are defenseless.

Neither protests nor the use of force accomplish anything here; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one’s prejudgment simply need not be believed — in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical — and when facts are irrefutable, they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental. In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self-satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack.

For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.

    ...

If we want to know how to get the better of stupidity, we must seek to understand its nature. This much is certain, that it is in essence not an intellectual defect but a human one. There are human beings who are of remarkably agile intellect yet stupid, and others who are intellectually quite dull yet anything but stupid.

    Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  • How about talking to Chuck Schumer about the concept of not being an utter coward?

  • That's an insult to mental illness.

  • Yeah it wasn't really about the mustard or the tan suit or the birth certificate.

  • There's not really anything wrong with being incompetent, so long as you have the humility to admit it and learn from people who know better, and try not to cause harm. That's not Musk's minions though.

  • Capitulating to fascists doesn't get you off the hook. It just shows them you're weak and easily duped.

Fascists must be fought, not appeased.
