  • And sadly Omada is years behind in their gateway/Firewall. OPNsense is far better in that regard, going back to a Omada gateway is like going back to a tricycle when you drive a car. Sadly.

  • The worst thing about that are the prices in the US. Not only that the insurance system is shit, you are also getting cheated there.

I actually looked up Prednisone in Germany (third most expensive pharma market in the world): 5mg, 100x, 16 bucks. Basically around that price for all halfway normal doses.

In other words, for 60 bucks you could easily cover a year.

  • The 4a was beast tbh. Loved that one.

  • If only the fucking phone would work that long.

My Pixel 6 Pro was replaced twice within the two year warranty. Always for display errors(Display crapped out partially or has sudden "green flashes" when in maximum low light setting). Each time was a customer service nightmare and took ages. The current arrived damaged (they send you refurbished phones which in theory would be okay if they would actually be refurbished - last one was still reeking of smoke) and the FP did not work, additional loading only works when the cable is pushed in to the maximum by hand. When contacted they refuse further customer service claiming their service period ended (it did not, legally they are obligated according to the laws here), but their customer service agents do not give a shit. "It's written here" and "then sue us, lol!" are quotes.

The problems with the screen are known and there are hundreds of posts about it online. Each listing similar troubles.

I really loved the phone when it worked. Great camera, perfect size for me, clean OS, a lot of bang for the buck. But shit like that made me get a Samsung.

  • Luckily our cops are only half bad (one quarter bad apples, one half who doesn't give a fuck and just can't be bothered to do anything, one quarter trying to fly under the radar and bootlickers, one quarter decent) in my country and nowhere near the levels the US have to experience. I have to work with them due to working in EMS and there have been dozens of situations I was happy for police backup - more than situations where I wish the cops weren't there.

BUT: I am also a white cis male and the experience is very different when I am not working - and verrrryyy different when I was still obviously a leftist than it is now. (Still am, but bidding it better). They were plain right obnoxious then and I would only call them for a situation I knew they either be pissed off enough by my opposite automatically or I know I can make them do what I want/need as I usuall know the relevant laws and their procedures well enough to pressure them. So for a perp with a knife? Yeah, definitely. For a burglary? Yes because I know how to make them do their job if the half who doesn't want to do it arrives.

  • OPNsense is like comparing a bicycle to a car (in Europe) Both will get you there, the first one is more convenient most of the time for most users, but the second one is a whole class of "more powerful". But it's far easier to take a shortcut with a bike.

  • Then use a switch ..

  • Very good chance to be actually cancer. A lot of cancers lead to extreme vomiting if untreated in their terminal phase.

    Or cholera,etc....yeah, these,too.

  • TBF they are right in my case. I pay for my ISPs small business offer, which is the former state own ISP, because they are the only ones who get me proper customer service in a reasonable time. (With 8h next business days. I could live with a few days. But it's that or 4-8 weeks) And I need a static IPv4 which none offers for non-business customers anymore.

Damn. But that bill makes me cry every fucking month. Even fucking Starlink would be cheaper, but I do would get offline before giving money to Elon.

  • First of all: Get the Instance it's own VPS - Lemmy instances are very very fluid with their resources requirements and you don't want the instance to bog down other services you use. Use another cheap VPS instance for your other services and link them up within Hetzner if needed.

This is even more the case if you host a public instance. I would even consider using separate accounts (even though Hetzner does officially not allow that) for that. Because if one of your users does something Hetzner finds ban worthy they will, under ideal circumstances, at least stop your VPS/quarantine it. (Been there) If you are really unlucky (CSAM material posted or federated in your instance) you will get your whole account banned. Which means all your other services are gone, too. (happened to someone I know)

Don't get me wrong,Hetzner is great, I love them. But be aware of these points. They are very proactive when it comes to these points.

    Beside that: Use Docker.

  • There was one friend who got away. She was single when we met through a common friend group, but she got together with one of my best friends. And while we were close, neither of us overstepped any boundaries. When she later ended that relationship she moved away for Uni. We hooked up a few times after that, but it was always more of a "drunken/desperate" hookup the day after - or that was what we, especially her, tried to tell ourselves, not wanting to risk our friendship.

I moved abroad, married (she was there), got a kid, couldn't be happier. She is successful, but I don't know more about her - she basically cut all contact after we met (for a normal coffee) and I had my kid with me...

Tbh, I still miss her a lot, especially as a friend, but sometimes I also wonder "what if".

  • You can even hook it up to your PBX and route calls depending on the number recognised and let the agent responding to the call read the customer data right as they answer. Tbh, a good CRM (there are good alternatives) is absolutely worth it

  • As a paramedic I feel deeply offended that we are not on that list but nurses are. Travel agents, okay. But nurses? The insult!

  • Actually no, I refuse to be associated with cosmetic/fashion style plastic surgery completely for personal reasons. I even don't work on the anaesthesia side of these cases.

  • Used to work in aeromedical retrieval for a company that has very strong presence in the Gulf region and a somewhat established presence in central Asia. .

  • I have been picked up by a private airplane once. And I don't mean an private jet like a bombardier global (which are still beyond cool), I mean like a full size long range airliner. The conference room alone was larger than my apartment at the time. Who especially was send my our customer to pick up my colleague and me. Even crazier: As it was somewhat urgent the customer "called" someone in his countries air traffic control and even though we arrived through rush hour at this airport we landed priority - which meant around 12 large airliners had to wait.

(To make that clear: I am not a prostitute, especially as I am a ugly ass overweight dude, but I work in healthcare and did a fair share of VVIP jobs over the last two decades)

  • Yeah, it was.... autocorrect

  • Absolutely. Not because of Trump directly but because of Taiwan. China now has a card blanche basically.

  • Buy staff made in Taiwan.. So get that PC upgrade now and get the most RAM you can stick in it.

With Trump being Trump I guarantee that China will be putting that shiny new navy to use soon as Trump will simply do nothing for the prospect of a "good deal"(for a new Trump Tower in Beijing or something)
