  • Strange how the powerful's chosen candidates whose campaigns they fund have tended throughout history to not pass legislation the would have consequences for their funders. It almost makes me want to go out on a limb and say the system disproportionately benefits the wealthy at the expense of the poor who can't just buy their way out of consequences.

  • It's a step. Why wouldn't they default to not accepting any AI generated content, and maybe have a manual approval process? It would both protect the content and discourage LLM uses where llms suck.

  • It means they cannot understand ideas, concepts and vocabulary that a 6th grader should according to academic standards. Newspapers are normally written at the 6th grade level (historically anyway) because that was the average reading comprehension 30 years ago. Now it's of course much worse.

    You might have read huge books in 4th grade, that's one data point--you-- against huge national data sets and trends. Your lone data point of what you read is called an anecdote. Anecdotes are generally ignored in debate as they are seen as unhelpful distractions at best and deliberately attempts to distract the discussion at worst.

  • Poors will be priced out by insurance companies. A large auto manufacturer, probably Tesla will buy one of the enormous insurers and start by offering lower rates for self-driving. Many will sign up and the standard startup playbook will follow. Personal vehicles will become luxury items and then you will be required to subscribe.
