Their sitting congresspeople. They don't have to win an election to affect change. They can simply use their vote to go against the immoral legislation put before them. Instead, they're just heading for the exits and months or years of voting for the horrible stuff.

Long story short I don’t feel like I deserve romance in my life yet. I feel like I got nothing to offer.
Turn this perspective around. Assume you have a mate. Describe what things you like about them such as:
Character
- Do they offer help to people they know?
- Do they offer help to people they don't even know?
- How do they treat people in service industries?
- What charities do they support (if any)?
- Do you think they have reasonable interactions with their family?
- How honest are they with themselves when they make mistakes?
- How do they treat the feelings of others?
Finances/Employment/Career
- Are they able to cover their bills?
- Do they have a level of ambition with regards to their career that you respect?
- What does their savings look like?
Intelligence/Education
- Do you feel they have completed sufficient schooling?
- Can they handle difficult situations on their own or are they constantly reliant upon others to navigate adult life for them?
..etc.
Now, how do you stack up against your list of traits and values you want for your mate? Do you see any particular shortcomings in yourself? If so, that's your list to work on and you can know you can offer your mate exactly what you are looking for from them.
We happened to be a drug store yesterday in the Easter candy aisle. We saw the bargain basement horrible candy maker "Palmer" with two different hollow candy rabbits.

Both of these were side by side and marked at $8.99 each. It took me a bit to figure out why there would be two different candy rabbits from the same company, sold at the same price.
Peter Rabbit is 5oz and is chocolate
Parsnip Pete is 7oz and isn't chocolate! - looking at the ingredients is all sugar and hydrogenated oils. Only a tiny bit of chocolate in it.
Palmer is the worst chocolate I've ever run across. Even if I'm offered it for free I won't eat it. I don't consider it chocolate, and with their other lines of products (like Pete) that isn't just a preference on my part but a provable fact.

I'm already taxed on my EV at the state level. The article you didn't read would add additional federal taxes. I'm not opposed to paying my fair share to maintain roads. The problem is these EV tax levels are WAY OVER the fair share for EV drivers.
US infrastucture is paid for by taxes on fuel at the pump, so all EVs do is destroy roads.
The problem is proportion. The EV, lets call them "road taxes", are a static number, and that number is VERY HIGH.
Lets assume the average car gets 30 miles/gallon. My current state EV tax is $200/year. The total fuel tax (state and federal) where I live is 38.5 cents/gallon. If we do the math EVs are paying the tax on the equivalent driving of 15,584 miles/year.
The article you didn't read talks about the GOP wanting to put an additional $250/year tax on EVs at the federal level. So using the same metrics as in the example before an EV would be paying the tax on the equivalent driving of 36,065 miles/year.
To add insult to injury, I drive less than 9k miles a year.
Because these are static taxes and not based on actual use, actual road damage, there's nothing a consumer can change in behavior to lower the tax except to buy a gasoline car instead.
This also says nothing to the argument that while, yes "all vehicles destroy roads", a passenger vehicle does a tiny fraction of the damage of a giant 18-wheeler (HGV). While those big shipping trucks certainly use more fuel, they damage they do to roads far exceeds the tax they pay in fuel*.
So again, I'm fine paying my fair share of road taxes, but the current and proposed additonal EV road taxes are disproportionally high compared to both gasoline vehicles and giant 18-wheeler trucks.
Repeal the gas tax and tax the weight of the vehicle is a sane option. I am sure that isn’t what the oil-backed GOP wants, though.

However, my original reply stands. The GOP, in the face of high oil costs, are making EV adoption even harder.
Instead of letting fields lay fallow for crop rotation, they could plant diverse wildflower meadows to improve quality of bee health for the traveling bees that get shipped around for crop rotation.
I can see a potential problem with this suggestion. How many of those wildflowers are net nitrogen fixers? If they are net-negative this approach could be draining all the nitrogen out of the soil during off-rotation years meaning large amounts of petrochemical fertilizer would have to be used to make the field productive again for nitrogen consuming crops (like wheat and corn).

I'm going to say its "energy prices in general" that will sink him. Gasoline is certainly one of the biggest ones. However, Americans are being squeezed on energy prices in all areas. This winter just ending has been pretty cold and natural gas prices have been higher. Electricity prices too with the double whammy of increased demand from data centers and the decline in supply. Supply is not keeping up because of trump's war on commercial solar and wind generation, and pissing off our wonderful neighbors to the north that have abundant electricity from hydropower for export.
Worse, consumers, hit with high home and car energy prices, will seek substitutions. Home PV solar and EVs are pretty good solutions to this. Then consumers will see that trump canceled PV solar and EV tax credits in his signature BBB.
In June we'll see the next auction rates for electricity generation. I think its going to be even worse than the last auction rates. With climate change increasing heat during the summers, we're going have months of eye-popping electricity bills at the retail level right as the November elections are getting underway.

At the beginning of the show, yes it "disappeared". Later in the seasons we find out that Babylon 4 was stolen by the good guys and taken back in time to use as weapon in the first shadow war. If memory serves, this is also when Sinclair comes back into the show for a cameo. Sinclair leads the forces of good against the shadows (and becomes Valien, the Mimbari ancestor/god I think).
Correct me if I am wrong the base problem, but we're not trying to lock down the OS. We're trying to limit the adult internet to children right?
The problem here is that the OS and all applications on them would need to change their behavior based on the mode.
So the AuthZ event can occur at the remote web server (or server serving the API). Yes, those would have to change. The AuthN event would supported by the web browser (or other software) making the call to the remote server. So yes, those would have to support the check of the CPU flag.
How are you going to prevent ROM flashing or storage replacement to modify the OS or other software?
Legal protections, not technical ones. This is the same method we use to prevent someone from setting up a distillery in their kitchen and making their own whiskey. There's nothing technologically limiting people from doing this, only laws. Also, the only people breaking the law to circumvent the child protections would be children, or adults purposefully trying to assist children in bypassing this check. The children committing the crime would be handled in the existing juvenile justice system the same way an under-aged child that is caught with alcohol. An adult assisting children with circumvention would be prosecuted the same way as an adult that buys booze for under-aged children.
In this system, no adults would have to age verify. No adult identity would be sent anywhere. All devices are "adult" by default.
How would you implement this?
Hardware and firmware combination. Fusible link in the CPU would be the one-way change. Firmware would have to support the service menu option to burn the link forever setting the device to only access the child-friendly internet. The only change in the firmware be the menu to activate the fusible link burning, and later reading the registers where a binary state of "child friendly=0 or 1" exist.
It would require devices so locked down you could never replace or even update the OS on them.
What is child un-friendly about an OS? I can't see any reason why an OS would be labeled not-safe-for-children. I'd be surprised if debian.org or Microsoft.com would be considered child-unfriendly.
Full disclosure, I'm not a full time dev, but am in IT and do some minor software development work.
Here's my proposal:
Reverse the verification. Don't verify adults. Have extra actions to allow children to access the internet, and make it the legal responsibility of those adults that purchase the devices verify that a device given to a child can only access the child-friendly internet. We already have laws constructed like this and they work pretty well. Cigarettes and alcohol are largely out of the hands of young children. No its not perfect, but no system will be.
The default behavior of any device is full adult access. However, devices will have a service menu that you can put the device in child-friendly mode. However, it's a one way change. Once its in child-mode, there's no going back.
Then, sell devices that are able to access the internet only to 18 year olds and older. An adult can put the device in child-friendly mode and give it to a child. An adult can also let the child use their adult mode device when it is under the supervisor of the adult. Any child found unsupervised with an adult mode device will be treated the same way as if they were found with a fifth of whiskey or a carton of cigarettes. Any adult found giving adult-mode devices to children will be charged the same way as if they were giving alcohol and tobacco to children. Perhaps a repeat offender adult will have their ability to buy electronics capable if internet access made illegal for a time as punishment.
