  • Some critics of the industry have warned that the frenzy around tokenization could introduce new systemic risks, especially in the absence of stringent regulation. In July, Hester Peirce, a commissioner at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission who has frequently spoken positively about cryptocurrency, said tokenized securities would not be able to circumvent existing securities laws.

“Systemic” is a banned word these days. But the current people in charge love systemic issues. They just don’t want you to clearly label them as such. Systemic issues disproportionately impact lower classes and minorities.

This is why the word “woke” Had to be destroyed and turned into the non-word it is today.

  • Oy, even when ad blockers are working well it brings up overlays and bullshit.

  • White People Twitter is your citation? Social media was a mistake.

  • I’ve seen people arguing. On Mastodon, weirdly enough.

  • “The Leopard tested me, and I am stronger for it.”

  • That makes sense. I assume these exotic ability’s require precise control of the radios. So, for now, until an API made, we should be safe.

  • Damn. “TikTok would like to access WiFi”

We need new permissions for this shit. WiFi can do presence detection and now heart rate? What next? Eye tracking?

  • Look into it, it’s pretty good.

And Apple updated hundreds of millions of devices to it from an old file system without losing any data. Imagine Microsoft pulling off such a migration. It was silently done in the background with a normal OS update. Really impressive.

  • This can’t be real. I don’t believe it.

  • Every person using a computer should know what their filesystem is and what database they are using. Otherwise they are fools.

Can you believe kids don’t know what NTFS or APFS are these days?! Stupid iPad babies.

  • Alcohol increases your risk of cancer, no matter how moderate your intake. And the risk increases substantially the more you drink.

This administration appears to find that difficult to accept and they are actively ignoring this information.

Ironic, considering Trump famously avoids alcohol.

  • I’m sorry, but if we are talking about 8k viability in TVs, we are not talking about shooting in 8k for 4k delivery.

You should be pointing out that shooting in higher than 8k, so you have the freedom to crop in post, is part of the reason 8k is burdensome and expensive.

  • Banning private companies should keep police from having a source to buy from.

    But that’s not enough.

  • For the lighter stuff, you should check out VRChat. It’s a mess of a place, but it also has a bunch of people who are in your position, and finding community.

I know that’s a weird one, it’s not for everyone, and I don’t mean to make assumptions. If you’re on Lemmy, you probally already have an opinion about VR/all that.

  • I’ll be right there with you listening/watching. Don’t get me wrong.

  • “I hope the voice of the antichrist is recorded and disseminated across the land.”

    Really weird times.

  • It’s universally true that having more and better information can improve business and efficiency. (This of course has limits, yes.)

I’m sure they were offering data that would help the agency.

Now the ethics, and creepiness? I’m not commenting on that. Palantir is not ethical. They labor under twisted logic.

And every time we mention their name online, we probally get a demerit in their database.

  • Nerds. But not the elderly who are in charge of this country.

  • Is there a machine that looks like this? Complete with glowing curved top?
