I remember the initial Google Workspace Gemini ads showing someone writing an email from a few bullet points and blowing it up to pages of text. Then another scene in the same ad has a user summarize pages of text into bullet points.
This is by far the worst and most expensive inverse-compression system ever.
I have never corresponded to another human with an AI response, I think just going through the process of doing that is the most fucking embarrassing thing you could do.
At work people have started just pasting AI responses into slack threads. PR review comments are also entirely AI written. I can understand having your AI review your code before you share with others for review (I would rather a bot point out my stupid bugs/typos instead of wasting someone else's time on them), but if you are reviewing something YOU need to review it.
I'm also getting annoyed because one guy keeps submitting entirely AI written PRs. They're awful. Too many comments that say nothing, they don't match our code styles, there are obvious refactors that would make the whole thing cleaner and more readable. It's just fucking lazy and a waste of time to keep telling him to fix it, because by the time I point out all the issues I could have just rewritten it myself.
Alternatively: Anti-AI enthusiasts are so toxic it's fundamentally impossible to engage with them, and they're forcing processes to be closed, ultimately defeating themselves.

This is the problem. You can be against AI and provide respectful feedback. But the community doesn't.
I do want a good file system embedding plugin for semantic search, image categorization and content recognition, better OCR, etc. I can run all those locally for less energy than playing a video game and wasting zero water, but a good OS integration would be game changer.
There are definitely things to say against AI, but the anti-AI crowd can sometimes be incredibly short sighted and assholishly militant.
I have a No Man’s Sky disk. Like 5% of the code on that disk is in the production game today. It’s online only, so I couldn’t even play it with the disk.
Cartridges do kinda make sense, you could patch the game on them (in theory), they can come in much larger sizes than disks too.
Side note: modern gaming is shit.
I bought Spyro and couldn’t even play it without agreeing to a privacy policy. It’s a single player offline game from the PS1 era. I installed The Sims 4, I can’t even play without an EA account. I tried Assassin’s Creed and you need an Ubisoft account to open the game.
Nobody wants to stand in the open fields during a heatwave with nothing to do. Those fields are huge too, they fit thousands of people. So the pictures were always going to be pathetic. No matter what.
That the booths are also just glorified stamp collecting with empty chairs, the entertainment sucks, and nobody wants to be affiliated is the cherry on top of the shit cake though. You can’t even get some good photos with paid extras inside.
I’m willing to bet hotels cost too much and they didn’t advertise either. Probably whoever organized it spent all their money on those ridiculous tents and pocketed the rest (or cut a deal with the tent vendor, like Parks and Rec)
No, my point is everyone is making a huge stink about GTA6 as if Rockstar are dragging the industry into the shit, but it is all the same shit as every other game on the market.

Al I’m saying is it makes no sense for Google to dump Google Music. It’s in their wheelhouse, it’s a natural fit for their infrastructure, it could have worked with YouTube.
