  • The one thing I miss from reddit: Being able to look at and continue conversations in deleted posts.

  • This extends to moderation as well.

    If I remove something early on in the chain, it prunes the entire thing. Sometimes there will be rule breaking content, and then a really detailed and well thought out response explaining the issue / debunking the misinformation. I don't want to have to pick between keeping the good content and removing the bad.

    It also gets annoying to moderate because I have to work from the tail end of every chain backwards else I'll lose access to comments after the prune point.

    One positive, the new version of Lemmy will fix this issue for account deletions. Previously when accounts were deleted, they took out all the chains with them. Now you have the option to not do that.

  • The only one here I think might not be appropriate (at least in the way that other fediverse platforms are structured) is dating apps. There's a much greater need for moderation, privacy, and safety when it comes to dating apps.

    We do need something different, especially because all the big dating apps are controlled by a single company (and the rest form the rest of the oligopoly), but the Fediverse may not be the right way to do it. Open Source but centralized might be the way to go

  • So many great posts containing Lemmy resources (ex. apps, communities) are now out of date. Instead, how about we make a repository to pull from?

  • I get that as well, or when people care about the issues but not enough to change up how they are used to doing things.

    It is getting better though, I'm finding more friends are moving to the better options. It's even easier when the privacy respecting option is as good as the alternatives. I guess Garmin is a decent example since people were recommending the watches even without the privacy aspect.
