  • waiting hours to almost have a day in the emergency waiting room.

I think if you're waiting that long in the emergency room, you might be in the wrong place. Or unlucky. And/or in a place that's understaffed and underfunded.

Most emergencies can't wait an entire day.

  • I haven't had that experience, but it's probably because almost nobody assumes I'm rich in the first place, lol

  • No, I'm not sure if it works with my mobile browser

  • I'm surprised this has so many upvotes when there's a headline and maybe 5 sentences before hitting a paywall

  • That really sucks, and I can't tell you why your experience has been different from mine. I'd guess you ended up around shitty people. And maybe it kept happening, making you feel jaded and/or reluctant to share with others, including those who may have been more accepting.

I'm glad you are least recognize that your girlfriend (hopefully "ex-" now) isn't as loving as she seemed.

I hope that you can find people to keep in your life with whom you can have those deep conversations about your feelings.

  • I think a lot of societies don't do enough to teach men about how to communicate and how to communicate feelings.

Part of it might also be men internalizing this notion that they can't discuss feelings and treating other men with that same standard.

I mean, I get it, it's harder for men than women. The change needs to start with individual men though, not with society.

  • Yeah, no, I meant less the surface level stuff and more the "anything complex" category that you brought up.

Not everybody wants to talk about that kind of stuff all the time, and that's normal. But it has not been my experience that all men want to talk about surface level stuff and only women talk about deeper feelings.

  • trying talking about your feelings as a man and see how society reacts...

This is odd to me, because talking about my feelings is how I got close to romantic partners. It's also how I formed a lot of friendships with other men. How can you be close to someone if you don't talk about feelings?

  • Why?

Even if that coffee is black and without sugar, that's gotta be rough on your body and your teeth!

  • I imagine most do

  • Why not just raise prices 20% if it's across the board like this?

  • I don't think copy/paste is involved. With vibe coding, the AI agent typically has access to your repo/files directly!

I didn't know backyards laid eggs!

  • We don't have soda, but we have a coffee machine

Should I be worried when they take away the coffee machine, or should I already be scared that there's no soda?

  • Shouldn't they make stronger escalators, then?

  • we had an optimistic childhood, were made painfully aware of global geopolitics just as we were becoming adolescents, and got economically punched in the gut just in time to start adulting for real.

I'm in this picture and I don't like it

  • On Lemmy? Never.

In instant messages etc, usually to convey things like tone that can't easily come through over text alone. They can also help soften things.

Or as reactions to messages to express something when you don't have much else to say. Or when it'd take time to write your response.

  • On the contrary, I'd say the elevator thing is only comfortable because it's a social norm. Unless it's a subconscious "face the door so you can see if any attackers enter" thing.

The escalator thing is less universal because it's something that helps other people, and not ourselves. This isn't valued as much in individualistic societies like the ones in most of North America.
