  • I tried and disagree. Godot engine doesn't have reactivity, is difficult to wire up in different languages (I tried rust), is a pain to allow making different components, isn't easy to style, and lacks an ecosystem (no graphs, maps, charts,...) It doesn't even have vertical or horizontal wrapping and there's more that I'm forgetting.

Maybe it is possible, but my experience with it wasn't as smooth as I had hoped. Did you have a better experience with it?

  • Imagine you're a worker of any kind. Some kid from university with a business degree and no experience in your job becomes team leader. They've learned to "lead". Does that make them an expert in your craft?

  • I'm not pro AI or anti AI. I am anti big tech though, which makes the discussion more complicated.

    Regarding escalation, a non coding team lead isn't a dev. A CTO isn't a dev. A software architect isn't a dev. A software developer is a dev. That's not an escalation, it's a fact.

Just because you lead a team of devs, doesn't mean you are a software developer, you could've gone to business school, never written a line of code and just started leading a team of software developers because you learned "how to lead". And there are different kinds of team leads, those that get their hands dirty and those that don't.

So no, being a CTO, CEO, or whatever C you want to put in front of your title doesn't make you "far exceed" any qualification. I actually think that kind of thinking is the problem workers are underpaid: people who lead actually often exceedingly overestimate their abilities in the craft they lead. "I lead a team of athletes, that means I'm a good athlete". Do you understand how crazy that sounds?

  • Wen was the last time you actually wrote something production level yourself?

  • Perfect username.

  • Instead of fixing spoofing, no no no, identities will solve everything!

  • And now they are being released 100x faster by AI

  • Crporate programming sucks and will always suck. Your team leads, managers, CTOs, and CEOs all lose the plot as soon as they are promoted (if they ever were). Unrealistic deadlines, little to no understanding of the craft/job/whatever, unrealistic expectations, unwillingness to listen to the experts, no progress or too much process, and so on.

I enjoy myself much more when writing my own stuff. No deadlines, sometimes not even a plan. Just jumping from task to task; whatever seems fun at the time. I might work on the same project for months, sometimes for days, sometimes not at all as I take a break and just touch grass or play games. But at work... No such luck. Just have to trudge through the crap.

We need to tax wealth and introduce UBI. Fuck corporate work.

  • I'm up for it. Fairphone already works with Murena (eOS). They could work with SailfishOS, postmarketOS, and others. But how do we go about convincing them of doing so?

  • I'm glad there are more people looking at linux now. I have more confidence in appropriate handling than by any for profit, publicly traded company, like Microslop.

  • IVPN is in Gibraltar and only accepts dollars. Why str they trusted?

  • Anslopic is chef's kiss

  • Firefox really has been bought and paid for by Goofle to send that much data for no reason. What do you need the city for my time zone for? Why my gyroscope? Why the languages of my phone? Just stick to the damn language I tell the damn browser to request and nothing else.

Are there any extensions that clean up request data and no-op JavaScript APIs?

  • Nothing I ever write will be popular and I won't ever force myself to work on my own projects I dont enjoy. Everything I write is without warranty nor guarantee.

  • I wish we replaced email with matrix.

  • Are you on Android? Is there a way to add custom characters to your keyboard?

  • I like the thorn very much. Seems like a nice way to piss off AI a little. Do you copy paste it every time?

  • It's so easy to trick these nerds into fits of rage. Just saw "rewrite in rust" and a group of entitled neckbeards will lose every faculty. It's actually hilarious to watch. No wonder 4chan had fun trolling. But with these people, it's just too easy!

  • About 99% of the world doesn't use protonmail. What good does it do if your email is stored unecryptes in the recipient's imbox over on gmail, apple mail, copilot 360, yahoo, yandex, or whatever else?
