  • I like gogs. Automated backups and then deployment seemed super easy with gogs but not so with gitea.

Gitlab seemed like a heavy weight for my needs.

You do you regarding hosting for friends. I wouldn't do it. I self host as much stuff as I can and I'm happy to bear the responsibility for my own stuff, but taking responsibility for someone elses stuff and access to that stuff is a whole other level.

One thing I've learned over the years, is that making something work today is only a small part of the job. Ensuring that it works every day for the next 5 years is the real challenge.

  • You might not have noticed my point.

I think the vaaast majority of voters just vote the way they always have. They're just not engaged. There's no consideration of who to vote for.

I honestly think it would take either a revolution, or several decades before any other party has a chance.

  • It would take many decades for a new party to get the recognition.

Most voters probably think Obama is still president.

  • Please nobody wheel out the Swiss cheese analogy or I'll shit myself.

  • My SO watches free tier youtube.

Edit: please stop with the alternative youtube client suggestions. I've tried. She likes the YT app and the ads. This hill is not worth dying on.

  • That's his obvious intention, yes.

There's still some things that can go wrong for the fascists, but we're certainly on a trajectory towards eternal leader supreme chancellor Trump.

  • This guy looks so fucking terrifying. He really does. Reminds me of the aliens in men in black who wore human-suits.

  • I thought the "war" was pretty much over at this point, they're just bulldozing any remaining Palestinians.

  • Sure ok.

IDK how things roll in the US. In Australia I think most jobs can find a Union.

Even if you don't formally unionise, talking and negotiation is the way to resolve this. If all the drivers express their misgivings to their supervisor in unison they're likely to be heard.

  • Amazing.

  • I've been driving for 25 years.

I honestly can't remember a time when a horn has alerted me to something I needed to be aware of.

Sirens here definitely aren't used in that way. Besides which you can see the stroving lights reflecting off things. You don't need line of sight.

If headphones were such an impediment to safe driving they would be illegal. They're not.

  • Not really.

Here emergency vehicles only put their sirens on for a few seconds when they're stuck behind some oblivious idiot who hasn't seen them coming and pulled over.

How's are rarely used to alert you to something you need to be aware of.

Even so, noise cancelling headphones suck at blocking that type of sound. It mitigates ongoing noises like engine sound, but not something with changing pitch like a horn or siren.

  • You seem kinda despairing and dismissive of the obvious answer... talking to your union.

You have no power over your employer, but your union does.

Additionally, and this is kinda wild but, have you spoken to your supervisor? What did they say? Did you explain what it is about it that's so annoying?

I've worked as a consultant for companies that use this type of thing and most disable the verbal warnings and stuff because they're not helpful in any way.

  • Fuck drivers that rely on hearing to drive safely.

  • Awesome.

You not only solved your problem but learned a heap along the way.

I love searxng too btw. It's the best way to search for the time being.

  • I've never used portainer sorry.

If you see the published port for a very short time then something might be crashing when it tries to start.

docker logs searxng from cli might be revealing

edit: I do have a searxng container and my compose.yml is very similar to yours. I guess we both copied the example. The only difference I can see is that you still have the env variables for UWSGI_WORKERS and UWSGI_THREADS. I just set both of those to 4 instead of using the SEARXNG_ env vars

  • You can buy screw drivers with a zillion different "proprietary" bits for driving whatever thing. This is one of them.

  • Obviously.

  • Additionally, just fucking stop scammers from using fucking gift cards.

Surely it's not that hard to detect that a gift card sold in Australia is being activated in Russia.
