  • I haven't seen it mentioned but I enjoy channels like Solo Solo Travel - slow-TV style videos about public transportation. What food can you get on a first class flight from Tokyo to Australia? All the videos have zero commentary unless you turn on the subtitles.

I enjoy them a lot because they're very relaxing and make me feel very cozy.

  • My hot take? No, it's not

You'll never change a mind with cruelty. You are merely selfishly expressing your anger

Best case scenario, this person now feels bad about buying a Tesla, but is now stuck with the car. They will likely have to waste resources fixing it and it may happen again. Sure, you could assume they're rich and can afford to fix it but that wastes literal resources extracted from our planet to fix or replace the car. And if someone buys the used version they'll have the same problem and may not be quite as rich the next time someone vandalizes the car.

More likely scenario, you piss the owner off and they dig in deeper. That's just how humans work

  • I can find alternatives with enough effort, but I love me some heavy peated Scotch. The smokier the flavor the better

  • Good to know, thank you for the link

  • What VC money has Matrix taken? Genuinely curious

  • I was curious, so here's the original post on Stack Overflow: Link (Archive Link)

  • There are classic ones like the Citadel (Mass Effect) or even Halo for the aesthetic beauty, but honestly I think I think it would be extremely serene to go to the cabin from Spirit City: Lofi Sessions. Each time I play that game I find an incredible desire to be in the cabin; my chest honestly tightens each time I think about being in such a relaxed, no-cares place with the perfect decor and perfect weather.

However, assuming this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, I would probably pick somewhere unrivaled in beauty or technology (gotta pick up some useful things if I can...). I don't think my desire for peace and tranquility can outgun the practical part of my brain

  • Sorry, friend. That sounds very toxic. I hope they stop soon

  • I can only assume your friend is the one who downvoted you

Also, I say "irregardless" when I want to sound like the mobster from It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia

  • These are "smart" channels that are mostly for entertainment but still teach you at least something:

    • Stuff Made Here - fun engineering challenge videos
    • Veritasium- math and physics explanations
    • Mark Rober - kid friendly engineering challenges
    • Technology Connections - everyday object explanations
    • Steve Mould - science explanation of random concepts
    • Outdoor Boys - outdoor survival
    • Woodsbound Outdoors - outdoor survival
    • Fireship - shorter, technology explanations
    • Internet Shaquille - food and cooking explanations
    • ElectroBOOM - comedic electrical engineering
    • Company Man - light analysis of failed or successful companies
    • Atrioc - comedic current events, marketing explanations

The outdoor survival ones are new to me, but for some reason I'm really into them.

  • You could go back and stop yourself from wasting money on something silly at least

  • Hilariously, you only need to go back in time two days to when they minted the Luigi Mangioni coin and buy it right away (and sell at the peak). It ballooned something ridiculous like 37k% so that should set you up nicely

  • This is something I think about a lot.

Part of me would love to go back and redo high school.or college and just be a better student, learn more, and flirt with girls more (although now that you mention it the age thing would make it weird, you're right). But I end up at the same conclusion - it wouldn't be worth not meeting and marrying my wife.

It'd be so difficult to meet her again (we met on Tinder) and to make it so she's interested in dating me. And then the relationship would be so one sided because I'd know every intimate detail of her past and she'd know nothing of mine.

So, I eventually come to the conclusion that nothing I could do in the past is worth risking her.

  • Similar boat. We aren't even seeing my wife's family because her mom is getting back together with her MAGA ex-husband and my wife just doesn't want to be a part of that

  • If you haven't already seen it, watch The Brainwashing of My Dad. It is a short documentary about this kind of experience that's worth the quick watch

  • Yeah, for me part of the fun of Yu-Gi-Oh was having really cool cards in your deck that was a big moment when you summoned them (I was a kid, times were simple)

But now newer decks summon and tribute like 8 monsters in a single turn, it's outrageous, and if you don't know every card by heart you'll just be stun locked trying to figure out why you got destroyed

That's why I prefer to play legacy decks if at all

  • I was thinking the ghost tower or cave music from R/B/Y

  • Damn they went hard on Copilot on this release

  • White.

I think because when I was young I associated it with angels and purity and I wanted to be a good person.

Now I just think it looks crisp and clean and it's always been "my" color in games
