  • I love that, on Lemmy, I can find such intelligent comments and learn different things - even from experts of various fields. Thank you for sharing your perspective! This is so cool. And, yeah, I hope all goes well - there is a reason for such regulation and now we're not there to enforce it because of (gesturing vaguely in the air) cuts...

  • This was brilliantly stated and you've inspired me! Thank you for sharing this with us all. This is just what everyone needs to hear.

  • We need the sandwich hurler freed.

  • True - something that I had forgotten about and that makes much more sense.

  • You're right - I got confused, thank you!

  • “It will only be a matter of time before producers pass their higher tariff-related costs onto the backs of inflation-weary consumers,” he said, according to the Associated Press.

I'm gathering this is where it's going to hurt: when in a little while, consumers are affected.

Dear reader, will I have the great privilege of your company on the street? Our (US) May Day is coming:

  • "This list naturally de-legitimised concerns of already distressed staff," said Dr Hossai Gul, a UTS researcher and representative for the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU).

That statement is exactly right and points to a surprising lack of empathy in the handling of this process.

"It is simply not something that should be shared at a university training future psychologists — our academics in that department and in health were horrified."

Hiring an outside firm to "help" with ostensibly positive advice for the bloodbath is horrible. I'm grateful the staff of the psychology department spoke up about this.

    • Do that task you've been dreading, like washing delicates, organising receipts for your taxes, or cleaning a bathroom.

EDIT: I got confused, forgetting that washing delicates implies delicate clothes - thank you fellow Lemmy-ers!

As an aside, I'm sure some people don't wash thoroughly, but I imagine most do. I'm speculating here, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. But I imagine most people feel great about taking a shower and washing thoroughly for that fresh feeling. What prompted this outside firm to advise as such suggests they believe most people actually dread to wash thoroughly when showering. Could this be a case of projection, perhaps, on the part of the author who offered that advice?

  • I'm with you. I couldn't understand why they listed California.

And then it dawned on me - it's exactly what you said: It's happened twice this week.

  • Lordy, this comment is so beautifully wet with sarcasm. Thank you for your creativity and the laughs! You're awesome!

  • Thank goodness we have the assurances of a billionaire oligarch to help steer humanity in the right dietary direction.

  • I came here to say something along those lines, but you beat me to it. I might have also made a passing reference to leopards.

  • ^^ Thank you - that is important context actually.

  • ^^ Key here.

    Thank you for posting this.

  • Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) campaigned with New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday, slamming both President Trump and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

“New York has always stood up to bullies and defended what’s right, even when it’s difficult, which is why we were so shocked to learn that Andrew Cuomo called Donald Trump for advice after the Democratic primary,” Nadler said at a press conference alongside Mamdani. “This betrayal shows exactly what we’re up against: politicians willing to legitimize our city’s greatest threat for their personal benefit. The truth is, Cuomo and Trump are very similar.”

Lordy, I did not see this coming. I'm truly grateful for Nadler helping out like this. Wow!

Thank you for sharing this great news, OP!

  • My goodness, so poetic - I love it! And I fully agree with you.

  • WASHINGTON/NEW YORK, Aug 5 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he believes that banks, including JPMorgan (JPM.N), opens new tab and Bank of America (BAC.N)

discriminate against him and his supporters, as he prepares to act against banks for allegedly dropping customers for political reasons. Trump also said the country's top two lenders had previously rejected his deposits, ramping up his attack on the industry.

Just in case anyone was wondering if the discrimination was against marginalized people or something like that.

  • I think this comment wins the Internet today, folks.

  • I heard Felon Drink Bleach is in the Epstein files.

  • What Microsoft did was absolutely inexcusable.

But, really, not just for this alone.

As for the DoD enlisting Microsoft, given the latter's decades-spanning horrible reputation, I don't know what to say.
