Technically, that’s true. A fair bit of investigation would help, but friend Patel isn’t in much of a hurry, now is he? And this was never an issue before either, when it was - say - the Clintons’ heads that were gonna roll, why is that then?
It shouldn’t, you probably have a modern setup. Super high level is that: UEFI is like a mini os on the mainboard, replacing the old bios chips that were very limited, including on partitions on disks: max 2 physical (whereby the 2nd was used to embed “soft” partitions), and any boot code was confined to cramped spaces, below certain amounts of blocks and cylinders etc, hence the peculiar /boot partition. UEFI had to support this of course, but it’s at best like wearing clothes that you accidentally washed at the highest temperature: bleak, way too tight in uncomfortable places and prone to tearing.
A bit more precise:“Anaconda will no longer support installing in UEFI mode on MBR-partitioned disks for X886. While the UEFI specification technically permits booting from MBR (msdos) disks, in practice this configuration is unreliable, inconsistently supported by firmware, and not tested in Fedora.”which I think is the proper thing to do.
This. I always thought the columns were named, not numbered; this would make it easier for regular humans to work with Excel because of the similarities with a chess board. The original developers would probably have chosen matrix style coordinates in hindsight though.
Every. Goddamn. Time.People will say to vegans, pet owners etc: “DON’T HUMANISE ANIMALS”. Then, some tech bro feeds them an inflated Markov Chain statistical nonsense chat bot and they go all “ZOMG IT IS CONSCIOUS ITS ALIVE WARHARGHLBLB”
The TPM a backdoor, I guess it may be technically possible but it is highly unlikely. If you need a backdoor, the UEFI of a computer is a much more feasible option, especially with built in AMT firmware for remote management.
See, believe it or not but as far as we can tell, Signal is just less convenient for large groups and it very much looks like Telegram is worse. But it doesn’t matter: it’s about AI (Grok) being integrated with an environment known for bad data. Grok will interact with bad actors and train on awful data.
Oh wow. Integrating an LLM AI in the absolute bottom in human communication; CSAM, drugs, revenge porn, criminal chats, illegal weapons trade and so much more … this will work out well.
It’s not quite about kink shaming. It’s “make that orange turd keep his stinking trap shut or I will transmit the tape on every possible channel for everyone to see… and believe me… you will NOT enjoy this.”
