  • Yeah, I know. I would have kept paying for their software if the pricing for more reasonable.

    I’m not on the calendar as bookabke as the business owner, but I still need to pay for myself as a user to just be the admin. Plus $15 a month for each contractor is pretty high.

    Other services charge like $3 a month. But they have their branding all over the calendar so it does not look good for clients.

  • There are a few that kind of come close to being better, but everything has at least one drawback.

    I’m just vibe coding my own booking system.

    If all goes well, it will be up and running on my test server by the end of the day.

    It does not matter which of my contractors does the work.

    So most other platforms force a different calendar for each person which makes it confusing for clients who just want to meet with someone at 7pm.

    I’m actually vibe coding my own booking system due to their pricing.

  • I loved his Star Trek reference in his first episode. In case others are wondering,

    He is the leader of a human looking alien race.

    He is explaining his people’s histories and said something like,

    “We were once part of a galactic federation of planets.” He then paused and looked at the camera for a second.

    For those who have not watched it, Stargate is a fantastic series.

    Watch them in order.

    The Movie

    Stargate Sg-1 (the first three or four episodes are kind rough, but stick with it it picks up super quicker and then every episode is fantastic.) Seasons 9 and 10 were just OK and you can stop at season 8 as the show was originally planned to end there.

    Stargate Atlantis is also great. I thought I would be a bad spinoff, but it has been just as good and the cast of characters is really great.

    I have not watched the others yet as I’m near the end of Atlantis still.

    They have tons of references to Trek and show a clear respect towards it. You will also see tons of Trek actors making cameo appearances.

  • This is the real way to hurt a company. Once an open source version exists, even if it is not as good as the commercial offering, they will have trouble convincing people to pay for what they are selling.

    Of course, they should be compensated for their work, but if you can build it yourself then the cost to a company does not need to be much higher than the costs of parts and labor for someone else to do it for you.

    One of the things I want to do is build decent applications and release them for free so people can get the same functionality of their paid apps but not need to pay anything.

    Main thing stopping me is time.

  • How long have you been doing it? I remember when I was first getting into running and struggling like this.

    I forget how much time it was, but within a year, I was running a 5k at least twice a week. In addition to that, I ran 8k twice, but that was pretty intense and I had a lot of pain after doing that. So, I stopped doing that.

    What I am trying to say is just keep with it and if you are running a pace that causes you breath so heavy. that you can't talk, then slow down your pace.
