  • I'm on Garuda, every game I have tried has worked great, sometimes I just have to choose a different proton version with an easy pull down menu. The only game I have given up is Destiny 2, because they say they will ban anyone on Linux because of their anti cheat.

  • People always talk about the learning curve and compromises, but Linux is finally in the "shit just works" stage, so it's not much different than the Mac/PC decision people make every day.

    Heck, in a lot of ways it is more similar to Windows than Mac is, so it should be an easier decision. For some reason though, everyone still treats it like... Well... It would be like treating Windows like you still have to know DOS.

    That's just not true anymore.

  • I didn't get a Bambu printer because of the price or design, I got it because of its "just works" reputation, which it does.

    Unless Qidi matches that ease, it isn't equivalent, and that's important to mention. Maybe it does?

    And yeah, I don't love the recent changes, but that's only ideologically. Practically speaking it is still amazing.

    While I mostly agree, one of my counterpoints is stuff where they describe what something looks like for 4 or so pages. I'm simply not gonna read it, full stop, no exception. Stuff like that is not challenging, it's boring.

    That was a pretty absolute sounding statement. And then when I pointed out that maybe it's to practice being able to get through that kind of text, you pointed out that you have aphantasia and your brain doesn't do that. Which is fine, but you said "it wasn't challenging, it's boring" instead of saying you have a mental condition.

    And now you are all defensive and it's just weird, so I'm gonna go. But if I'm the future you say what you mean instead of not what you mean, it may be received better.

  • Tabs are a totally different thing with completely different properties than any particular number of spaces.

    If you are thinking of tabs in terms of how many spaces they are, you are doing tabs wrong.

    A tab is really a jump to a specific measurement that you set. That most word processors have tab stops automatically every half inch has only helped train people to not understand tabs.

  • Well that's idiotic. You can also drop it off in person at any mailbox or any county drop box. If you want to define it by your proximity to where you drop it off instead of by process, we can say it's all in person voting.

    And of course I'm arguing semantics, definitions ARE a matter of semantics. Also, I work for the government, you have no idea the number of stupid ambiguous laws we have to navigate every day. We live in a world of semantics.

  • One of us is an elections official in Washington, it isn't you. King county is having a special election right now, if you are in a participating district, ask them what the difference is between the "in person" ballot and the mail in when you go in. It's the same ballot.

  • Oh that makes sense, they do have a separate process there to handle all the people that are convinced that there's an in person process, but it's still just a mail in ballot and a county drop box, they just don't have time to try and convince you that you aren't special.
