  • Steinbeck had a knack for saying a lot with a little. "The pearl" is another of his works that is also incredibly short but you could easily discuss it well past its length.

    I highly recommend the "grapes of wrath" to anyone who hasn't read it as well. Its account of the brutal knock on effects of the dust bowl and the nature of human kindness and sadism left a mark on my life that never left.

Unions, pensions, social security, taxes on the rich, exploded the deficit, congressional partisanship, brutal " better dead than red" foreign policy, on and on. He constantly broke every political "taboo" that protected these middle class bulwarks, and it worked. Our country has been brutalized for 40 years and counting, and most of the ugliness can be traced back to his administration.

    He single handedly did more destruction to our nation than any other president so far, and yes that includes Trump.

  • Libreelec is the easiest and most direct right now. Very stable, and they release timely updates with new versions of Kodi. Use a pi5 if possible. The extra compute and hevc decoders does help with media.

    There is a great youtube and sponsorblock addon as well. Completely ad free youtube.

    Your can directly mount nfs shares in your kodi client if you like, but Id recommend setting up jellyfin as the media server you host as a standalone server. It has its own native Kodi app to sync media updates and media state. Super clean way to organize, update and index all your media, and then view it in Kodi.

    Our main vmware license is still under the old pricing due to lock in, but that expires in a few years. We will be moving off vmwaew, and by then hopefully improvements like this bring proxmox into the competition.
