    I feel like this article misses the essence of the original. It's a strawman. Yes, being on the fediverse is better than being on twitter/facebook whatever corpo media. But it is equally susceptible to just endless scrolling without any action

    Yeah I've tried bluesky, this is entirely accurate. 90% of US political content on bluesky is basically a combination of r/whitepeopletwitter and r/clevercomebacks. Same people too, that reddit loves

  • The web ui has this option now. Although you can't collapse threads so it's still pretty hard to navigate

    If anything the success or the Twitter ui shows you don't always need a good UX to succeed

  • I'm not sure he could solve them. Part of his depression might be knowing the solution to the world's problems, and also knowing he can't bring them about.

    But also he's a robot. No moral compass, no reason to care about humans. For him such things are an intellectual curiosity at best

  • I keep hearing about how modal editing is faster and I would like to switch to a more performant editor.

    Honestly I've yet to hear a good argument for this. It feels like such a major investment to switch to vi-like editors, I need a pretty good argument before considering it

    Also a good argument for "why does it matter"? Speed of editing is rarely a bottleneck when editing code. If it is, you might want to consider why your code is so verbose and repetitive to make it so
