If you're here, there's still hope for the internet

Don't let it fall

  • The IP address is from the US though

  • I'm not European but isn't Lemm.ee American?

  • True but he doesn't need to. It's the door in face technique

  • We can't give them the boot for a good while. In the meantime, what would you have us do?

  • Running an index is quite a massive endeavor at the scale of Google. They're a small team.

I think it makes sense considering there's a competitive market of indexes already. They make small ones to cover some niches and use existing ones for the rest.

Keep in mind they also add their own reranking and stuff on top of Bing Google whatever

  • Kagi has multiple indexes of their own

And the AI stuff is all opt on from what I can tell. I've never gotten any AI thing except when I asked for it

  • Can learn

Technical talk is always half english anyway

  • I hope you marked the account as a bot

  • Yeah lol, and it's trivial to show

  • That's fundamentally impossible. There's always some baseline you trust that decides what is true

  • Bro I'm just trying random stuff, I didn't need your fancy frameworks

  • You can't. Even if there are mirrors elsewhere, you have to use github at least indirectly to contribute to the source

Given the rise of anti-US sentiment and calls to stop using their products, more people leaving Github might be a real occurrence

Highly unlikely. Github has nothing to do with current politics and has massive network effect. There is no way in heaven or hell you'll see much effect on Github from this

  • No one asked. Bro blurted it out off the official account and people are understandably concerned

  • ok haha, I guessed something like that must've happened

  • wow that's... quite a list. Are you sure you need them all? What are you using like redis, yt-dlp or spotifyapi, ytmusicapi for??

  •

    Traceback (most recent call last):
      File "<redacted>\countryguess\countryguess.py", line 3, in <module>
        from art import *
    ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'art'

you might want to add a requirements.txt

  • Princess and pea aah bed

  • Because it hasn't been needed. Alternatives like vivaldi and brave do make some changes to allow you to disable Google services. Ungoogled chromium is also a thing.

For all the hate, Google has mostly done fine beyond a few boneheaded decisions.

  • They're already dying. This would be throwing themselves in the grave. People aren't used to paying for browsers
