  • Although Roblox is very far from my taste in games, I wanted to join my kids in a few multiplayer games, and was very happy to find out Sober exists. It worked like a charm.

  • +1 for the pocketbook. It is a Swiss company. Plays all formats that i ever needed. The software is... ok. The Era was about €150 but there are cheaper models.

  • Yeah every time I see this chart I think "unless it's performance critical, realtime, or embedded, why would I use anything else?" It's very flexible, a joy to use, amazing interactive shell(s). Paren navigation is awesome. The build/tooling is not the best, but it is manageable.

    That said, OCaml is nice too.

  • With Gitea/Forgejo you can run a local actions executor, which builds the images, pushes to gitea's image registry, and using a script pulls them on the other side and restarts them. Worked fine in our small startup.

  • Should mention Open Sound Control which is also pretty good. Not exactly a competitor, it was supposed to provide a richer, real time interface. Still popular for certain use cases, including beyond music.

  • Concepts like Reactive programming are widely used in web/UI contexts. The problem of connecting a UI to an underlying data set is not trivial. Several frameworks deal with this.

    As was already said, concerns like Accessibility are studied academically. They have more to do with user experience than the technology, so not sure if they match your question.
