    Question for Marvel nerds: what's your take on Peter Parker's age? Should he stay a teenager or be in his early 20s like in the Insomniac universe?

  • I think it should serve the story it's in. There are good stories to be told about teenage Peter Parker. I liked the new Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man cartoon, and him being a teenager really works there.

    With that said, I've seen a lot of that version. For new stories I'd be a lot more interested in stories following an older Peter.

    I just think it's funny how some people are all about marble runs and some people just don't get it. No in between. Personally I'm all about marble runs.

  • I once bought my niece a marble run. I got some shit for it, because I guess some people just don't get it? But she loved it, and my 6-year-old daughter now loves marble runs too.

    My daughter also collects rocks, so a rock tumbler was a big one for her.

    Another gift for a niece I got shit for was a drum. She loved it. She was so excited that it was a real instrument. My brother always said he'd get me back, but my daughter got a full-ass drum kit for Christmas, and I think it's great.

    Oh, and make your own slime kits are huge right now. It's science-y, DIY, and kids love slime.

  • Mobile gaming is so good. There is a lot of chaff to sort through though.

    • Balatro is amazing. Great to pass the time with, very playable even for people who aren't that into games.
    • Slay the Spire is one of the greatest games ever made.
    • Root is very good if you're into board games.
    • Baba Is You if you want a mind-bending puzzle game.
    • Marvel Snap if you like competitive card games, have way too much time on your hands, and hate yourself a little.

  • Do you think it's possible that he got caught up in a system he couldn't get out of? Can't you imagine a scenario where you're desperate and can't find work because you've got a criminal record?

    Things are always more complicated in real life. I'm not excusing anyone's actions, but surely you can put part of the blame on the system he was forced into.

  • The reason we need freedom of speech from the government is because the government has a monopoly on violence. The root of it is whether or not violence is an acceptable response to speech.

    When people say "freedom of speech isn't freedom from consequences", they're not typically referring to murder as one of the consequences. You can see why that would be a slippery slope if they were.

  • Costs aren't down. Game development is more expensive than ever.

    In any specific case where a game goes to $70 and the difference all goes into the CEO's pocket, then yeah, I agree, let's all boycott. But the employees at games studios need to get paid too.

    Ultimately, ten extra bucks just isn't that unreasonable for a video game. Looking at the historical prices of games, they've been lower than they ever used to be even though costs have gone up.

    Would I rather pay $60? Of course. But it's just silly to act like a $70 game is some grave sin against gamer kind.

    I think the only people complaining about $70 games are people who don't buy their own groceries.
