  • Petitions are the perfect example, it gives people the illusion that they’re having an effect. But in reality, when those 10k petitions are hit, it’s up to the houses discretion whether they even want to talk about it.

Yes, the way the UK Parliament handles petitions is absolutely terrible. Even though they are required to hear any petition that gets 100k, a House committee basically decides whether it gets treated seriously or not. What's really needed is a national equivalent of public questions to local government. I can understand that there would have to be some sort of signature or support-gathering requirement or ranking because first-come-first-served-with-a-time-limit (which is what happens at local government) would become an unfair fastest-finger-first contest each time the questions queue opened, but it could be better than the petitions.

  • Starmer to unveil compulsory online ID checks by the backdoor, more like.

  • 🙁 that Tom's not on here or other open social media yet.

  • At least Canada is a "wild card", so on a level with all the national parks or one of the long rivers because it connects so many states, not exactly just a state card. I'm wondering whether there's a similar interruption for Mexico going to appear later, given that Sam wasn't that far away from their flag when filming the Canada disclaimer in Toronto.

I agree entirely that it's great to see Amy on a full season at last and not just in one challenge or a special two-parter.

  • Are there videos of other people making it look hot? Adam may have said he was crying and zoomed in, but he didn't look that bothered.

  • Where's that announced?

  • Not gonna lie, I'm a bit disappointed that Lincolnshire was an episode that seems like it could have been anywhere, even more so than the bells. It's such a geographically and historically unusual place, but Tom 's indoors almost all of it.

  • The layover podcast for this episode claims that it's because Scotty is in the title graphics for Chew Chew Choo and Sam keeps trying to sneak the show in unplanned/unbudgetted, but I'm not sure I believe that.

  • Really? Aren't we already hours into day 3?

  • Still terrible AV sync problems on Roku. This is spoiling what is otherwise a great season.

  • Yeah, watching the Nebula app on a Roku TV, seems to have settled down now. I wonder if Jet Lag launch days stress Nebula.

  • And now you have once, do you think you've got away with it, Basil?

  • The person paying might not be the user, is what I mean. I'm thinking of phones given to younger family members.

  • I think you can get eSIM adapters for phones without one built in, but I've not bothered yet, so I might have misunderstood.

  • I think Amy estimated that at least one of each team knew about the Monty Hall problem, so made it the one they were most likely to pick first.

Bonus evil genius points if that website was tricky and always made it the one they'd picked first, no matter which one it was !

  • He could have gone with a pun about ending a bell...

  • Is anyone else having a lot of audio-video sync problems on this episode?

  • Doesn't mean it has the user's ID.

  • Why not? I thought swapping was promoted as a benefit of eSIM.
