  • It’s funny that I can interpret this in every way possible. Yes, I prefer to be able to be critical of US or Russia on my social media without getting downranked. Yes, I’m for free elections in Belarus. I’d be for banning nazi symbols but they’re banned where I live already.

    • Mark Zuckerberg wants to participate in this trade war somehow so he bans mentions of Chinese tech.
    • Distrowatch mentions OpenKylin, a Chinese Linux distribution, gets flagged.
    • Facebook support (person making around $3.5 per month in some third world country) doesn’t know difference between specific Linux distro and Linux itself, tells Distrowatch that Linux is now banned.
    • Distrowatch doesn’t research anything and cries foul without second thought because Meta is evil.
    • We live in everyone is dumb timeline.

  • Why? Google does this everywhere because naming is completely arbitrary and it makes sense to be up to date with current nomenclature. Poland changed name of Kaliningrad (Russian exclave that we border) to Królewiec (what it was called when it was part of Poland) in a similar manner to troll Russians and Google updated our maps as well. Apple didn’t in either case so you have options.

  • TikTok had to make Trump look good as he presumably saves it so they did that stunt. In the end both sides know TT has to agree to selling majority stake because it isn’t anything China didn’t do to US firms multiple times already.

  • Besides the ad revenue on TikTok is almost non existent even compared to Youtube. It was never a platform that you could realistically become successful with even if you got views.

    If TikTok was widely known for being bad for making money then maybe it pulled some people who didn’t care about money like on old YouTube.
