Im on the fedi doin fedi things.

  • I wonder sometimes because the BIG companies announce layoffs...those people don't just sit there. They get other jobs most of the time.

Ive seen it locally where a big company removed close to 1000 people and a bunch of smaller places ate them up really quick. And then because they are smaller, they don't have to announce layoffs later on (in theory?).

So it looks like the area is going through some kinda downturn...whereas whats actually happening is headcount is exploding all over with smaller places.

I wish I studied economics. This looks fascinating. Maybe someone else can be-bunk what im saying.

  • Theres already a couple. In a week this will be old news.

  • Its great. Theres an RSS feed if your into that.

  • This is fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

  • Sometimes low tech is the best solution. Thats a good idea :)

Most bots are not sophisticated. If they were...they would just get a human being to do it. The whole point is to do something repetitive easy again and again.

  • Exactly. Thank you for putting this up.

In theory, excel should be good enough. But its only good enough for one person. They dont have the context of the whole project most of the time. So at no point is it optimized for everyone involved. Also God forbid someone leaves the job for any reason or goes on vacation. Even a shared Excel between teams, you go on vacation, come back and all your tasks are gone/messed up/they are using a new document for new projects.

In practice like one tracker that is maintained by the team that gets you 70% of the way there is good enough. And yeah it sucks when teams are moving from one to another.

  • Does lemmy.world use cloudflare?

Also im confused, is there a reason people dont like cloudflare? Other than eating up caching for the entire internet of course?

  • Its perfectly fine not to. If you like the old twitter like interface and folling "people" rather than "topics" (like lemmy/piefed does), then you would like GTS. If the answer is no, keep using your fediverse that you like.

But yeah its relatively unique instructions specifically for Yunohost is what makes this article a good one.

Hope you have an awesome day!

  • Solar is really taking off. Just about 1/3 of all houses in our neighborhood is all Solar. Consequentially battery tech is getting much better and now we have sodium batteries making their way into the world.

The Fediverse does not seem to be doing away. Which is awesome!

My wife is getting back into art and painting and she has made wonderful paintings that are all over the house now.

  • I created a honeypot that creates a link only bots would think is a link. Then it gives them random words with another link. If they click the link 3 times they get ip banned by fail2ban. Works wonders! I can see my logs and the difference it made.

I also have bots.txt that only the big players care about like google.

  • Ngl i just have an old ass file server and drag/drop things there. Then copy/paste the ebook/audiobook over to the offending device. Boom done.

  • I recall theres something like a little ball you put on your rod instead of a fishing line that feeds the fish instead of catching them. If you are in really clear water you then get to see all the fish eating the fish food you put in the ball.

Its been decades so im blanking on the actual device. But it kinda looks like a bigger tea ball.

No need to actually eat the fish and works with conventional fishing rods. Maybe someone else can chime in.

  • The comic is pretty good. I got into it after the game out and my wife was like "this is a comic you know" and im like "waaaa". :)

  • When you get older you learn math with purpose can be really fun.

  • I love creaper world but i feel like its one of those games you either love or hate pretty strongly. I have 100+ of hours into the series.

  • Oh wow havent seen that game since the ouya. It was actually super fun. Nice.

  • Is it like spiritfarer? That game fucked me up.

  • I can respect a shitty indie game that has passion. You can tell a lot of people are ALMOST there on itch.io sometimes. And its just so close. Or just something that doesnt click with you. But thats ok.
