  • IMO the worst that could happen with hard alcohol is much worse than public intox. Of course it depends on the kid but I'm thinking of hanging with the wrong crowd or street fights and such.

    Yes, becoming a parent is a huge deal. But nobody forces you to be one. There are contraceptives for after having sex, there is abortion and there is adoption.

    I agree you shouldn't provide the drugs for your child. However, if my 17yo child were to ask me for a drug test kit (eg. to check that there's no weird shit in the weed) I'd happily provide. Same with condoms. I won't encourage them having sex, but providing a space safe to do so is not facilitating. It's keeping your kid safe while they are doing something that you can't stop them from doing.

  • I really don't think hard alcohol and having sex are a fair comparison at all. The worst that could happen with sex is a pregnancy, and there are several solutions to that even if you don't want to deal with another child.

    Researchers at the Brookings Institution agree that the strategic manipulation of our electoral process is largely to blame for the erosion of US democracy in recent years. Brookings says this manipulation takes various forms: the intentional addition of administrative barriers to voting, unfairly drawing electoral maps, the subversion of the election certification and counting process, and the violent coup attempt on January 6, 2021.

    The United States is experiencing two major forms of democratic erosion in its governing institutions:

  • Who says the government needs to remove them? There could be a grace period of a year or maybe several years, during which people already owning a gun can apply for a license and receive the necessary training. Those who don't want to get the license can come in to prove they made the firearm unusable. Anyone else owing a gun can be made liable after that grace period. This would minimize necessary resources.

    Also, a proper government should be able to focus on several things. And I do think daily school shootings is something worth focusing on.

  • Sure, the shootings won't stop the day legislation changes. But it prevents more guns from entering the US, making it more difficult to get one, even illegally.

    I get that some people in the states need guns. Some communities have a real danger from bears etc. But those people can get a license to own a gun, the way it works in most countries.

    Edit: I don't see any hammock pouch briefs on their website, do they call them boxer briefs? Because their boxer briefs are also advertised as anti chafe

  • Most apps with persistent notifications that I used allowed you to turn off that notification in the app's settings. Others utilize androids notification category management to allow you to disable the persistent notification.
