  • They had a pretty limited musical run (and a 1 season IFC show) but Garfunkel and Oates had some funny songs

  • I was playing video games with a friend while listening to music and said out loud "is this a Tom Jones cover of Burning Down the House?" and her immediate impression of the song was dead on even though she'd never heard it before

  • The one thing Trump is actually afraid of: Discovery

  • Dropout is one I have no issues paying for too

  • My work was matching donations at one point and Wikipedia was an option so I donated $50 + $50 of corpo money to Wikipedia at one point. They've never stopped asking me for more

  • The Breaking Bad universe. There's a lot of shitty dudes who idolize Walter White, and then there's the Better Call Saul shit posting that seems largely nonsensical and mostly harmless

  • I had a similar phase with YOLO to betray my age

  • Go even more British and use windershins instead!

  • Oh interesting, I wonder if the cause is something else then? I do know a lot of left handed people end up learning how to do some physical activities right handed because it's easier but I doubt that would be enough to make their right leg stronger

  • My assumption for this would be that the majority of humans are right-side dominant. So they tend to lead with their right foot and their right leg is probably stronger meaning they tend to take marginally larger steps on the right leading to a counterclockwise gait

Similarly to the OP, I was told in Boy Scouts that if you're lost in the woods you need to stay where you are because if you do try to walk out you'll likely just go in circles and be harder to find

  • Yeah, even stories of "benevolent" djinn who want to help still backfire and those are the minority. Most are tricksters who want to fuck with you, so giving them some sort of logic loop is more likely that they break logic/causality than you'll have them blue screen of death and poof away in a cloud of smoke

  • I went to a party once where the main event was a "medium" doing a large group (~15) reading. It was painful to sit through. I remember it taking a little over 2 hours and this dude just kept fishing for something to latch onto so he could do his thing. He had a couple people kinda go along but he pushed them away when they weren't perfectly aligned with what he was looking for. I am familiar with public speaking and tried teeing him up with answers and even that didn't work. I was looking for a way to politely leave when it finally wrapped up

I was already a sceptic thinking most mediums are bullshit artists and this only further solidified my views, as much as I tried to be open minded

  • If everyone you interact with on a daily basis can have their opinions changed by throwing money at them, then you start to believe that is just how people are. So when a bunch of people change their mind quickly you just assume they were paid to do so

  • I've done dumber shit with my bros and theoretically we have higher order thinking

  • You can buy a sheet of "for rectal use only" stickers pretty cheap and you can put those all over

  • You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

What's a song where you like a remix or cover better than the original?
