Long term computer programmer, making my own library. American based. Far left politically. Politics centered around promoting use of paper ballots. Follows news about environmental collapse, political corruption in my country, human rights, science and tech.

  • Back in my day, there were no guides; except for books that had to be bought or borrowed, one learned by hacking code until it worked or, better yet, had a helpful person in the same room give tips.

    After the internet came into being, there started to be guides, at first many were ok. Then people realized they could write slop and make money or get internet points or credit. So now here we are, today, with many horrible tutorials, some middling, some good ones, about to be buried by AI

  • The process makes file to read via http (not https), it’s just a nonce ( some random characters). Once their server reads that file, using the domain (and not the ip) and compares with what is expected, this shows you own the domain , and they give you a new ssl cert, modifying your server’s https configuration file (usually). And deletes the file it made .

    The retryafter=86400 value is too large (> 600), will not retry anymore.

    Seems to me like the call to your server in the verification step is failing.

    Do you have port 80 blocked or stopping the call in another way ?

  • Politics stopped working at the federal level, and only some states are full democracies.

    So running for local office either won’t help at all, because the fight is not there. Or it’s a dangerous futile thing to do - if one were to be outspoken and all public against injustice.

    The only hope for many is to make new things while breaking as little of the old as possible

  • I am working on a small and new project which will decentralized; and can act like a glue and common carrier to many other decentralized services. Nothing to see until later. Its only been a year since I began it, part time, in my basement, at night

    This gives me huge interest in seeing what the new trends are!

    I think such decentralized services to remove the bulky single server is the future for people, however it runs, in the next decade; and will spark a new era of services

  • A lot of people turn off js to avoid tracking, or for performance, or they are calling the search in scripts, or they are doing illegal deals in their browser. There are dozens of reasons to do this.

    I’m USA based and this will impact future protests : not just the search but all google services must be avoided in the future.

    This will also break tens of thousands of scripts
