Long term computer programmer, making my own library. American based. Far left politically. Politics centered around promoting use of paper ballots. Follows news about environmental collapse, political corruption in my country, human rights, science and tech.

  • Sounds more like a self replicating malware somewhere, probably in some totally unrelated Wordpress plugin on unrelated sites scattered about

  • Nobody can prove it did not happen either.

Anyone can say anything about any of the systems, and it would take a panel of experts to explain why it may or may not be a valid criticism.

That is the problem with computer voting in the USA ; it’s inscrutable , the exact opposite of how a democracy should function.

  • Biden’s help killed more at this time, but Trump should catch up by late summer or early autumn this year. Then we can say Trump killed more than Biden.

But Trumps crimes elsewhere will eclipse this grim milestone , and I doubt most commentators here will remark on that when it happens

  • The people in Gaza survived a lot better than I predicted ; but I think the mortality from all causes is huge, under reported and still minimized.

  • Yes ! Indeed

  • I was just joking also, the only reason I did not put the sarcasm tag was I had an iOS keyboard. Still not sure where that button is, someone said it’s next to the “any” key.

  • I don’t understand, how can the turtle do this? Is it because the elephants are dancing? Won’t they fall off??!

  • Or also, on top of that, allow new ways for spying on white house traffic later by Musk should he fall out of favor.

Even if the new stuff is switched off, that is a very valuable heads up for him to go into damage control, extra bribery and stuff even more wicked

  • Unless more democratic leaders actually try to build grassroots, stuff like this is not very helpful. Because few have any clue how to do that, structures to rely on, support, or plans.

Unless any democratic leader offers a plan to make the red and purple states follow international guidelines for voting. All of this is just hot air.

So, doubly damned. And that not even getting into issues that would be very important were this a normal democracy. These issues don’t count now, which is the only reason efforts like this are not triply damned.

  • Some old fashioned c++ and c developers, like me, feel more entitled to entrench more, and see Rust as a political movement, and not a serious tool.

I’m fairly reactionary against adding more Rust to stable projects. While I’m sure at some of that is me being old and set in my ways, the other gives people like me talking points, which may or may not help.

  • I used to see many people socializing outside: adults and kids. Now, 4 decades later I only see kids under 12 hang outside. I noticed people from Europe coming here expressing surprise of streets empty of pedestrians.

At the same time, I witnessed less places and businesses where people can be together, less attendance at both bars, school sports and churches - and the decline of local politics, grassroots and community activism.

I can’t help but think all these are related to what you say here

  • And they will get away with it if the majority of people still find themselves unable to act years from now.

In this county, politics as normal has failed and cannot be redeemed at all. Something new has to happen; what I don’t know, a missing ingredient.

  • Maybe I’m going on a rant today; but a big problem too is that many of his critics still somewhat normalize him, because of his office and unconscious respect given to that.

I understand his followers and the billionaire controlled press do pretend this is all too sane and normal. And they have their reasons for that.

But to treat him as anything else but a dangerous, perhaps lethal, clown is a horrible mistake that maybe cannot be undone later.

People often speak of former governments being supported by those who obey authority too much; and this is yet another example, even by many of the critics of such governance. Who will still legitimatize this in some way. No good will happen is such criticism does not change

  • Not only economists, but everyone with awareness who uses logical thinking.

Such headlines irritate me because it still offers a modicum of validity to crazy, upon casual reading.

Environmentalist disapprove of spraying cyanide on crops” would be a more obvious example.

  • I have the opinion the best quality chair one can find is as important as the best computer one can use

  • Gators are wonderful and loving pets

  • Called it

  • Fair point

  • People talk about the Democratic senators like they are some independent force , but most of them are as incapable of action as their gop counterparts.
