  • This is affecting our work - our Share point was down for two days while they looked through it for any mention of dei, delaying plenty of work that had nothing to do with dei.

But even putting that aside, now we have many (thousands?) government employees on admin leave, which means they're getting paid to do nothing. And likely will be for months.

And this delayed resignation thing, if they uphold their end of the deal, will cost even more. Especially since many of the takers seem to be people who were going to retire anyway, or "super commuters" that don't live near the office, both of whom were likely on their way out anyway.

That's a lot of money they are spending for no return at all.

  • "Choose Love" sounds a lot like the message that pastor had at his inauguration. Point being, he's likely to be offended by that as well.

  • I'm usually anti dealer badges, but when we bought our Accord, the dealer said if we kept the dealer license plate frame on, we'd get free car washes for life. We took advantage of that many times. Seemed a fair trade to me.

  • No worries. I'm a fed and it's the email I received.

I'm actually on vacation this week, but I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not with this going on.

  • The idiots in charge now want the federal employees that they hate to investigate this crash. The ones they just threatened with termination.

Why people voted for this shit is beyond me.

  • I just wanted to say Good Luck, and we're all counting on you.

  • "Think? No one has time for that!"

  • This is great. It reminds me of the Olds my dad had that had intermittent power steering, like you'd be turning into a parking spot at the mall (this actually happened to me) and the power steering would stop working, suddenly making the wheel much harder to turn. All kinds of random fun.

Cutlass Ciera diesel. If you got behind someone doing 50 mph on the highway, you were basically stuck there, because it would take forever to pass them.

  • After he masters that, get him an MFM or RLL hard drive and teach him to low level format it and set the best interleave.

  • This is really interesting. I read it earlier but didn't have time to respond then, so I saved it to come back to it.

I'm in a similar situation, although I'm the guy doing all the chores while my wife sits on the couch. She also said the love language thing, mine is service, hers is compliments or something. (I don't remember, it was a few years ago and sounded like bullshit to me.) Between your comments, and others in this post, it does sound like it's sometimes used to give people an excuse to dump chores on the spouse.

I'm like, look, doing the dishes is something you just have to do to live. As is taking out the trash or recycling. We make decent money, but we're not in the income category where we can pay people to do those things. We used to have a woman who came and cleaned the house about once every 6 weeks, and it was so nice not having to worry about that, at least. Unfortunately, she moved farther away, so we no longer have her services, and we haven't replaced her, so the house gets dirty, and I have to clean.

As an example from a few minutes ago, we're in our RV at Disney World, we finished dinner that I made (ravioli, so not hard), and our dog curled up on her spot on the couch, so I said, "Well, you can help me with the dishes." Then, the dog moved, she sat down, and I did the dishes by myself.

We haven't done the counseling. My wife was supposed to book it. Lol That was about 6 years ago.

  • I'm at Disney World toys well, and today I rode Guardians of the Universe Cosmic Rewind for the first time.

In one of the intro scenes, the aliens say they are planning to share this technology to jump to different areas of space with us. I thought to myself, "We'd just screw it up."

(Great ride, though, if you're wondering.)

  • I'm a coke guy but will drink Pepsi in restaurants. I've never seen a "convenience" store that only had Pepsi. It doesn't sound very convenient to me.

  • We don't feed our cats donuts, but I have no doubt in my mind they would recognize it as food and go for it, if they really wanted to. (With our current cats, we've never had an issue, but we had one before that would go after any food you left out. And he was super thin, just very food-driven.)

But yeah they're feeding that cat junk food.

  • Man my local bicycle shop is looking for mechanics, and I'm like.........could I afford that instead of my current desk job?

I'm qualified; I'm pretty good mechanically, except for wrapping bar tape. I'm slowly getting better at it, but I'm definitely not to the professional standard a bike shop would want. But I'm sure they'd make me practice that.

  • "It seems free speech is back on the menu." - paraphrased, but that's basically what he said. The Democrats were keeping free speech down!

  • Man I devoured Hardy Boys books when I was a kid. One time I came across a much older version of one I had, so I read it, and that's how I learned they rewrite the stories every so often. It had common elements, but was a different story overall.

Then they came out with the "Hardy Boys Casefiles", the first book of which had Joe's girlfriend Iola killed by a car bomb intended for the boys. Obviously for a bit older audience.

  • I won't take glee in it, but I will take a stance of, "This is what this country voted for."

I say, bring on the tariffs, too. Yep, it's going to suck for a lot of people. But that's apparently the only way anyone is going to learn. Not Trump fans; I don't expect them to learn a damn thing, as a group. But the rest of the country will hopefully learn why voting for Trump was a bad idea and maaaaaybe give a bit more thought to the next election, assuming there is one.
