well that is part of the user experience. the main thing that annoys me though is that the ui tends to go one of two ways for these devices; either it's super-custom to the point that all application developers have to do extra work to be usable on it, or there's too little customisation, which again means apps are not properly usable without extra work. i've not seen a folding device that "just works" yet.
it is a very cool technical achievement, but the user experience leaves a lot to be desired with them. most people don't think about comparing. which is the only way i can imagine samsung getting as big as they have.
we have separate sorting bins for plastic, paper, metal, cardboard, compostables, newspapers, clear glass, dark glass, batteries, lamps, and "household waste". bottles and cans go back to the store for credit. other stuff like oils, chemicals, electronics, wood, and appliances goes to a bigger recycling facility outside of town.
it works fairly well. we don't really have landfills anymore. the biggest problem is people not giving a shit if the receptacles are full and either cramming their shit in or just leaving it outside.
doing the math, tankless heaters use insane amounts of electricity. we were gonna use one for a detached guest house so we could skip the insulated pipe, but holy shit the cabling we'd have to install
