  • I have all the keys to all the things

The last three jobs I had were like this. I'm a web developer with an interest in IT, so after a few months I always get to manage all of the IT. 🥹

    Pros:

    • I can sneak in OSS and Linux into the infrastructure, slowly but surely replacing all of the proprietary shit
    • good salary
    • four-day work week

    Cons:

    • having to play babysitter for basically everybody
    • when something breaks during my vacation, well, there goes the vacation
    • nobody notices how much work I actually do (until something breaks)
  • And no AI features.

Best we can do is Liquid Ass.

  • Absolutely. I've been using it for a month and it feels like Google, but before they enshittified. DDG was my previous goto search engine, but it's gotten really bad as well. Especially the aggressive keyword replacements drove me almost insane.

  • Not the point, but they're the bad guys for other reasons. Walled garden, bad repairability etc. Their update policy is really solid, though.

  • It's new devices coming onto the market. So if they existed before June but they are still being sold, the rules do not apply to them. But new models that are coming out now have to have software support.

  • The EU has already noticed. Manufacturers have to provide software updates for five years, for all new devices since June.

  • Trickle-down will happen aaaaany day now...

  • Look how they massacred my boy!

  • Damn, that's really good.

  • This reminds me of the sketch from Chris and Jack, where one person tries to outsmart a genie with the perfect wish and almost succeeds, but ultimately fails.

  • You can also download a Windows 11 ISO and instead of using the official Microsoft tool, use Rufus to create a bootable USB stick. You can specify a local account to create in the tool.

  • That's just so stupid. I can't imagine Doctorow's usual audience falling for this, though.

(Started reading it today and couldn't put it away, it's an amazing book, especially the chapter about technofeudalism. I bought my copy as a DRM-free .epub on thalia.de and it's definitely the real one 😆.)

  • The real cat face is =(^.^)=

  • Such a disregard for personal space. You will be punished by excessive meowing in the middle of the night.

  • Yup, that guy just looooves the money. At least he openly admits it in his performances.

  • The man himself is absolutely dense. Just listen to one of his speeches or interviews for five minutes. But the really smart (and dangerous) people are the ones whispering into his ear.

  • LLM is an excellent tool to increase your study efficiency. If...

...it's not constantly making up shit and presenting it as facts, you mean. Right?

  • [Everyone liked that.]

(except the pro AI trolls, but they're up for a rude awakening anyways)
