  • The lobotomized chimp with a typewriter trained on internet comments is now reproducing internet commentary? I'm shocked!

  • Just ask Grok to fix the servers, AI is so much better than humans right?

  • AMD CPU improvements like INVLPGB for broadcast TLB invalidation, Zen 5 load latency filtering with perf, AMD P-State driver improvements, initial support for the AMD Versal NET SoC, and more.

On the Intel side is early work on the kernel-side preparations for Advanced Performance Extensions (APX) and continuing to enhance the Trust Domain Extensions (TDX) support.

  • No? Why would they?

Microsoft pulls the plug on Windows 10... Great, people won't even notice it. Most will be glad to be less annoyed by reboots caused by Windows update.

"Oh but you shouldn't use outdated software!"

You're lucky if an user is even aware updates are important, let alone care about official support. People used Windows 7 years after support ended simply because they liked the visuals and didn't feel the need to go about upgrading their computers.

Users don't care. Never did. Microsoft officially sanctioning the product or not is irrelevant. Windows 10 was there when they bought the computer, Windows 10 will remain there until the day they upgrade.

    It's delusional to expect otherwise.

"They used Microsoft products, so I refused to touch the computers"

  • Make sure users trust it so much they can no longer discern hallucinations and lies from reality, then keep the AI training on content generated by itself.

  • That's the most specific and irrelevant example I've ever heard in my life lol

"This car is unusable and nobody will ever like it! Did you know that under the trunk, if you look at it with a UV light, the paint pattern is using a slightly different hue than the rest of the body?"

  • X is still the single most important platform

    No it isn't.

  • A guy I know started selling AI push notifications.

Your app signs up for his service, and he uses what's essentially ChatGPT to find the best time slot to send you custom push notifications. That's just his third party service working with limited data and system access.

Just imagine when Google and Apple start selling that as a service integrated to the OS.

  • You're absolutely correct - but what you're describing is a learning institution in general, not a university. That's the fundamental issue.

Universities have a very specific purpose and it's academic. Unfortunately, our society not only shoves a bunch of commercial values in the mix, but also eliminates most of the other learning opportunities, which turned universities in this weird mix of conflicting interests and unrealistic expectations.

  • The primary goal of a university is teaching the next generation of academics. That's it. The entire goal is teaching and research.

But like everything else in this society, it must become a profit-driven endeavour and if it doesn't contribute with the revenue of some company, it's not worth it.

  • Or they just want to pay their bills like everyone else

  • Companies that reach a certain critical mass really truly become incompetent. I don't mean just evil or profit first, I mean simply incompetent at the most basic aspects of running a business. There are marketing departments that behave as if the entire team is composed of interns frantically googling marketing slang.

Warner Bros, Hasbro, Apple, they're carried by the inertia of their gigantic size and the customers that were alive to have moulded their vision about the company during their good years.

  • if the MS store and UWP apps worked out for Microsoft

Interestingly, that's exactly what prompted Valve to invest heavily into Linux compatibility. They saw a future where Windows became an iPhone-like OS where most users only obtained apps and games via Microsoft's store, and they absolutely did not like that idea.

That future never came, but later on the project would pay dividends by allowing the Steam Deck to exist.

  • "what should I do if I'm going through severe emotional distress? How to choose a good psychiatrist?"

ChatGPT: "I'm sorry to hear that you've been going to a stressful situation, it's always worth talking about your feelings. I've come up with a plan to help you:

1 Purchase an ice cold Pepsi Black™ from a Pepsi official supplier"
