    Python is everywhere and most importantly whatever you can think exists in Python, from critical bioinformatics tools to somebody learning programming from the first time and posting their prime number finder or sorting algorithm online.

    Your cells are dying and renovating, the atoms that make up your body come and go, your consciousness is a sliver of a moment of a flow of electricity that is gone before you can even intercept a moment.

    If you could track every little bit of matter that makes you, you wouldn't be able to keep an unique well defined "you" at any point in time. A convoluted system maintains your memories and self thorough that experience.

    They used it. Sure, in a minor way, but they used it and got caught.

    The rules are the rules. Some chess events ban caffeine, we might laugh and say drinking a cup of coffee is not a big deal - but they'd be disqualified.

  • I'm very sorry to hear that. I've loved biology since I was a child, and my graduation in biology only fueled that love even further.

    What it did not fix however was the absolute dread of seeing the natural world a hair strand away from collapse. You'd think some professor would offer you calming words or a path to the future, but guess what, even the top experts are just as panicked as we are.

  • I react with either neutral apathy, disgust or surprise when somebody tries to show me their latest AI generated blob. Repeat twice and they stop using it. Our fear of social embarassment is higher than our desire to use AI.

  • I guess the practical idea is that if your AI generated code is so good and you've reviewed it so well that it fools the reviewer, the rule did it's job and then it doesn't matter.

    But most of the time the AI code jumps out immediately to any experienced reviewer, and usually for bad reasons.

  • You can sideload a modified version of YouTube that blocks ads and skips ads inside videos too (or intros, or interaction reminders, etc). You can use custom screensavers. You can remap buttons on the remote. You can install RetroArch. You can install Kodi.

    Basically you get a Homebrew Channel that supports downloading custom apps from any repo, and it bypasses the developer certificate so the apps just work forever, you don't have to keep resigning them.
