  • People are social creatures. They follow peer pressure. If you want to make the world better, one of the ways is to spend the effort to be better, to work on being kind with other people.

I had two different work friends, years ago. Both of them had low to mid grade homophobia. They'd say things. But after a couple years of me working on them, they stopped.

Was it worth it? Maybe. It was harder than just writing them off, but I like to think as a result of my spending the time with them, they hurt people less.

  • He should be personally, criminally, liable for the deaths and suffering caused by his policies. So should leadership that supported him.

  • Pc.

    • more utility than just games. Code, write, etc.
    • a backlog of games going back like 40 years
    • will still be usable and with new content for years. A PC today will probably be able to play some hot new indie games in 15 years.
    • no subscription fee for online play, generally
    • more free games
    • many games are cheaper
    • broader range of input choices
    • emulators and the high seas, if that's your thing

Edit, days later: and mods! Mods are huge.

  • Why would they lower costs when they can just not do that?

  • Having these self driven cars run by private profit driven companies seems like a bad idea. Infrastructure, which this is trying to be, should not be private.

The Kansas experiment was a name given to a controversial and widely noted tax-cutting policy/agenda of Kansas Governor Sam Brownback that began with Brownback signing a bill cutting state taxes (Kansas Senate Bill Substitute HB 2117), in May 2012,[1][2] and ended with the Kansas legislature's repeal of the bill in June 2017. It was one of the largest income tax cuts in

Despite its record and the fact that "many experts regard the Kansas tax cuts as a failure", the 2017 Republican tax cuts (Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017) had some of the same elements of Brownback's policy, and "many Republicans still embrace the ideology" behind the Kansas tax cuts.[2]

    Conservatives don't learn shit.

  • Why would you use another privately owned platform that's likely to enshittify?

  • Cool. Been on Linux for a couple years. No real complaints. No tinkering. It just works and is a boring-ass plasma kde desktop environment.

  • ICE and all of their supporters need to go.

  • There's a lot of ghost jobs. Should probably be illegal to knowingly post a ghost job, with penalties to the tune of "pay a year's salary to every applicant"

  • Reddit could have just continued on a place with good user generated content. Could've been profitable and popular. Instead they shitted it up. So fuck it. I hope their leadership suffers.

  • Google is run by assholes and fools. They should be broken apart.

  • Went a couple months without much beyond form letter "we have decided to move forward with candidates who better align with our needs" rejections. Got one internal apply going now for the sad mega Corp I'm at (but a better team, I'm told), and one referral got a call back.

I think referrals are still the way to go. Sadly even that only goes so far.

  • Unpopular opinion: Masculinity doesn’t exist. There’s feminine things and then there’s everything else.

This seems to be a roundabout way of coming upon the idea of, like, defaults and privilege. Like how people will say the there's "sexual orientations: straight and political"

  • Device finger printing should be illegal.

  • It didn't just happen like the stars moving overhead. People with names and bones did it.

  • Most Republicans value in-group solidarity more than things like justice or truth. So no, not unless Trump somehow becomes out-group.

Maybe if we start a conspiracy that he's actually Jewish... No, that's like trying to use The One Ring.

  • I have to admit I was wrong - a shit-load of google docs are also visible on search. I wasn't aware it works this way. That's really bad. I found so many people's resumes!

  • Does it say they posted it on the Internet?

Google Docs has a "anyone with a link" sharing option. I would not expect setting that and texting my friend the link to result in the document contents being indexed for searches.
