  • Yeah. I'd rather have people rely on citations and inquisition than trusting mods to keep misinformation at bay.

  • While I don't agree with the 'tankie' rhetoric (it's been thrown around so much that word has no meaning here), mod abuse has definitely gotten out of control across most online communities.

It's opening up an opportunity for communities that don't tolerate mod abuse to flourish.

The mods only have themselves to blame. Hopefully these new communities won't repeat the same mistakes.

  • No, it's not common. If your heater is old and needs replacing, then it's expected.

A lot of people don't even run their heaters unless necessary, though. I only run mine in the morning.

  • Protocols and decentralization are a good step.

  • The real answer is they've been conditioned. They have so much excess, but rather than funnel that excess to those who need it, they all decide to hoard it and use it to gain as much more excess as possible.

    They're greedy. They're entitled. They're insecure. It's a bad combination.

  • True, but that doesn't mean this is one of them.

That said, I think salt batteries will eclipse these.

  • Yeah, gotta love how their CEO donates to anti-gay causes.

  • for what would otherwise be a monopoly.

Firefox only gets funding from Google to prevent the US government from stepping in to break up a monopoly.

  • You have to be born yesterday to believe this.

The business will do whatever they believe will make them the most amount of money.

  • Umm... no.

If Mozilla needs more resources for their browser, they can stop paying their CEOs so much and replace analysts with engineers.

They can also stop wasting their resources on projects nobody cares about.

  • These social media companies need to stop interfering in political discussions.

  • How do you think batteries started out?

  • I'd be happy with a gaming laptop that doesn't have hinges that break.

  • Can they make laptops with hinges that don't break?

  • Same goes for US companies.

Have we learned nothing from Snowden?

  • Good. Let people say what they want and if you don't like it, ignore them.

  • Is there any way to hide embedded images on lemmy?

    These are pretty annoying.

  • Cognitive dissonance.
