  • I dread the day my Nvidia shield dies. The next less shitty option is probably using an apple tv, but I really wished Nvidia made a new version with a bit more power

  • All of them also bring their own comfortable export feature.

"I want to share all of this with my team. Create the prompt that is necessary to do this"

  • Enjoy. The first is a bit clunky but good lore points - the second is where it really takes off

  • There are thousands of amazing older games that run on old hardware. Forget AAA and wade into your backlog or pull out some classic from gog or a yard sale.

Don't chase the high end, relax and start a game of CIV 4 or Anno 1404

  • Oh, shit, i remember that clusterfuck. Wasn't it also with something something blockchain/web3?

  • NERD!

  • Yes. Both, not either or. Where is that shitty competition thinking coming from?

  • 100 percent. It has a feature that takes a short clip when Garmin sends a milestone (3 km, new FTP), but I was horrified that it did not just take a picture but filmed it. I do not want to film strangers, such a creepy feature.

  • Wearables could thrive in an open environment. But meta is currently the only big player and I don't think they have the will and corporate capability to open themselves up. They will play in their walled garden and that will cut down on creativity and innovation.

  • I have the Oakley one, mostly of two reasons:

    1. the audio quality for music and podcasts during runs and bike rides is good, not as good as the Bose frames, but way better than everything else, if you want your ears free
    2. the video rivals an action cam. Great for pictures or short videos, for something like filming the kids on a ski run. Way safer than taking out a smartphone ( I do not like parents filming with a phone on the slopes, super dangerous)

Now, if have it set up on an older phone and cut down everything. The meta ai app is horrible, their sloptok is even worse.

Additionaly, you are only allowed to use what meta likes, so, for example, only Spotify, no Deezer, no tidal. Only Garmin, no polar, no suunto.

I do not use the ai features, and I can see why people are weirded out by the cameras.

But for the niche stuff, they are a cool alternative to a gopro

  • 100 percent agree. Yunohost or runtipi are easy ways to get into hosting

  • I understand, but I had to trash a great laptop because the soldered ram died. Never again.

  • Good luck. People will not be able to control their Sonos, listen to their music, use banking apps or check their social.

Not having enough the right apps killed blackberry, windows mobile, windows phone, symbian and palmOS. But sure, a chatbot will be different.

It would have worked 10+ years ago, when we had open apis and could connect to services without being forced into their walled gardens. But now? Nah.

    Edit: typo and clarified apps

  • Proton is such a good tool. I play Windrose on my windows pc but it also runs well.on my steamdeck. I'm prepping a new pc for the kid and i think it will be linux out of the box, just to see how far it can go.

Tbh, another reason is that you can't change the boot logo anymore. That was one of the earliest "hacks" and i still have fond memories of the XP Pirated Edition Logo. It also sparked my fascination with tinkering with the OS - and with Win 11 that is all gone

  • That's wild, i would love to see that in action

  • Not a liberal, not an american. I think most destruction happened under Netanyahu

  • GNU Sir Terry
