  • It could be good to layer in standard machine learning (ML), and it already does have some features (like line of best fit).

However, in today's context AI means LLMs, and that is not a good fit due to its unpredictability.

  • I may be wrong, but I believe you're talking about two different types of legislation that have different rules.

The Republicans have the votes for a simple majority, but I don't think this bill counts as a reconciliation and would require new changes to the senate's rules (which may or may not be possible).

I could be wrong, but if I was, why haven't they just pushed it forward?

  • I mean, not really. Cause it's not even a solution.

It's more likely a grift some politician is using to pay a friend some money to play with drones.

  • From the link I provided

An identical budget resolution must be adopted by both the House and Senate before Congress can take the critical next step: Advancing legislation to reconcile tax-and-spending laws

My understanding is that the budget resolution needs to pass before there can be a reconciliation bill.

Either way, if it really just required 50 votes, they would have done it already.

  • What is this "Airbud" rules.

Cant give it a ticket cause my ticket book doesn't say anything about "robots" breaking laws.

  • I think it actually shows we don't know how to fight back.

With Disney all they had to do was unsubscribe (or in some way contact Disney) to show their frustration.

How do I do that with ICE? How do I do that with Republicans (when all of my reps are Democrats).

Disney has a bottom line they worry about, but this administration doesn't care about my opinions or my wallet (look at the direction the economy is going). So even if I could directly tell them I'm not happy with things (and I do in some ways), they don't care.

  • This is a funding bill, which is different than the budget/reconciliation process. He needs 60 votes.

  • Upvote for Slice and Dice

  • Yeah, he's already played the mass RIF hand. He's going to try to make it happen with/without a shutdown.

Also, anyone slightly aware of things knows a shutdown doesn't cause mass layoffs, that's all Republicans.

  • To be fair, I've read that this was his fear with the last shutdown standoff. Now that they're basically destroying the federal government with/without a shutdown he seems more committed to not caving in.

Not sure if that's what we'll actually see, but seems a little more hopeful.

  • The issue is, the more of the federal government he replaces, the less people/institutions there are to block him.

This only works for so long.

  • My understanding is the main report this all revolves around only showed a possible link between heavy Tylenol usage during pregnancy and a slight increase in autism diagnosis.

Its basically a nothing burger that's been thrown out to distract from the attack on vaccines and our Healthcare, plus all other sorts of actually serious matters.

  • Is there anywhere to watch the videos that sparked this issue?

I feel like you can never find the source material behind incidents like these, meaning everyone just goes crazy based on vibes.

  • I'm not saying the graph is the best graph ever, I'm saying it's far from the worst I've seen.

Its also clearly not a line of best fit, as it isn't trying to "fit" the data. It's a trend line that's a vertically offset line from lowest to highest. It's a stupid line, but being used to convey how much growth their has been.

The only real issue with this graph is the information/context being ommited. We know there is a lot more to the autism debate beyond just the rate of diagnosis.

  • Each bar shows two years; years they surveyed the kids and the year the kids were born.

So 2000|1992, is saying that kids born in 1992 were surveyed in 2000. If you look at tmit with thtmat perspective you can see it's ordered by the year.

  • It's probably a dataset that collected every 2 years, but only labeled every other bar to prevent the graph from being overcrowded.

Not a great decision, but not terrible.

Although, I'm a bit concerned for Lemmys graph comprehension skills.

  • Im confused, it's got both axis labeled and seems pretty easy to read.

Maybe points off for having the labels on the outside rim of the graphic.

Doesn't change the fact that classification of autism also changed over those years, but the graph itself is okay.

  • That would be the easiest path in my opinion. It's great Linux exists and I use it extensively, but it's still not as user friendly as Windows and Mac.

I'd also say that nowadays, Linux will work out of the box, but it's not uncommon for some little things to not work correctly (accessories like docks, cameras, etc. may not work out of the box or at all).
