  • What are the compact options short of a small wire and palm tree? I could probably etch that length on a couple of a4 size sheets of copper clad from ABC at around my minimum resolvable pitch size.

I've never really wrapped my head around impedance in this kind of context to the point of a functional fundamental understanding. I know the basic explanations and definitions well. It is like AC resistance; high impedance means low current potential, aka needs buffering or gain; low impedance is deadly microwave transformers and welding type stuff. I have wound my own I/E core transformers and built a dozen switching supplies, but I do not understand what you mean here by using impedance matching with a transformer. I would like to.

  • Eat the rich. The red ones

  • To be determined. I probably would have been better off if I was an only child. Maybe better financially planned, but probably not. My folks lack that depth and responsible mindset due to cult like religious dogma. I fully anticipate being homeless within a decade at most. I'll likely end up immobile as my back continues to degrade. I doubt my sister will do anything. We have not even spoken in nearly a decade. She refuses to process the complexities of disability which is reflective of her lack of logical depth. Anyone that fails to understand that a broken neck and back is an injury people do not just bounce back from, is someone too stupid for me to care. A person with two bits of dichotomous depth cannot be expected to hold 8 bits of nuance. Growth of one's registers only comes from within. Negative feedback such as guilt and shaming will never stimulate positive growth. You cannot fix stupid in anyone other than yourself. Only worry about what you are able to change.

Use your curiosity to bootstrap yourself out of blame and dwelling on things you cannot change. You are valid for being hurt. Trauma is like a deep wound. Learning to navigate around it is hard. If you are not careful, you may be stuck in a state of shock that leads to nowhere. Nothing will make the wound go away, but you are capable of coming to terms with the past and living with the scar. Over a very long time you may find that even scars mostly fade away.

  • FORTH, and as a stepping stone into more complex hardware... again. I kinda did this once before and am getting back into it.

I am just goofing around with the emulator. I would actually like to try breadboarding something without any external connection and build it up into an interpreter. Basically try to build my own basic FORTH like threaded language from scratch. It is ambitious for my skill level. I actually have the chips to build this with a 6502, 65C816, Z80, 6809, 68010, 68008, and 8085, along with a bunch of peripherals. I also have several chips running various embedded versions of FORTH. I never managed to pick up stack programming well enough. I got so caught up in just getting FORTH onto the various chips and then getting a sensor or two working, but never built anything complex or beyond tutorial scopes. Now I am thinking in terms of the fundamentals without all the extra overhead... or trying to. There are a bunch of questions in the back of my head that I would like to answer with a functional understanding. Like what are the real limits of fuzzing for unknown hidden instructions and registers, how some red team exploits work in practice, or reasons bare metal programming is uncommon on current CPU hardware... and several other lingering curiosities.

I wish I could just jump into some 3k page documentation for a modern SoC and have a chance of doing anything useful, but it seems one needs to understand a great deal of implied context and methodologies. So I go to the source of the hardware that the present leaders played with as kids, figuring I might follow the breadcrumbs to understand them.

  • Yeah this is the answer I found too.

  • Opt out is idiotic. Don't buy this shit! You to not own it. What fuckwit dumbass rents a fridge someone else controls for $2k. I bet it has a camera inside to sell grocers a list of what to mark up for your custom pricing nonsense because you bought a billboard that screams I'm a gullible moron with more money than sense.

  • I'm entirely the opposite. I don't know how you find the will to breathe after more than a beer. I swear statues are made of people that smoke weed. I still feel smoke in my system after 3 weeks and take nearly a month to feel 100% again without the dull lag. After just one beer I am done for the day and won't get anything productive done. Back when I raced, my legs felt like they were weighted with lead bricks for a couple of days after just a beer. However, Adderall is like my super power.

  • Try to get the bike route blocked off for through vehicle traffic around the area where I was disabled.

I wasn't on the actual bike route. I had detoured to stop by a bank on my way to work, but the way I chose to get back to the bike route was to just take the highway because the traffic on the bike route is not a significant safety improvement worth an extra quarter mile of additional distance. If the route had no vehicle through traffic, I would have gone out of my way. There are several points where blocking traffic makes no difference. The only people driving that way are fools following nav systems, people that are lost, and asshats that have no spacial logic skills.

Other than that, probably give the money to the thrift store charity men's shelter here in town.

  • Cataclysm: Darker Days Ahead.

Daily pull requests for over two decades on an open source project

  • I know that they are open source to some extent. I'm 99% sure that this quote has not been updated to include the 3588, but this is on Wikipedia:

Rockchip provides open source software on GitHub[19] and maintains a wiki Linux SDK website[20] to offer free downloads of SoC hardware documents and software development resources as well as third-party development kits info. The chipsets available are RK3399, RK3288, RK3328 and RK3036.

    Here is their stuff:https://opensource.rock-chips.com/wiki_Main_Page

Here is the toolkit for converting AI stuff to work on their NPU. It looks like they support several 2-3b models including multimodal qwen v2: https://github.com/airockchip/rknn-toolkit2/https://github.com/airockchip/rknn-llm

Their own documentation says they do not provide source for ATF (arm trusted firmware). So it is probably just as bad as the Intel/AMD Management Engine fascist takeover junk running in the background.

Their main document is the TRM PDF. The one for the newest RK3588 is on gitlab along with the regular mechanical and pinout documentation. At a tertiary glance, it looks comprehensive with over three thousand pages of registers, addressing, and peripherals with timing diagrams. It is way over my head to say how complete or useful it is.

  • pwning and getting pwned by friends playing counterstrike dust 2 in the local cafe

  • Free if I can have company. I am not amused by most media for a general public. Hopefully the soup is interesting. You might need to pay me to stay after I finish the soup.

I usually watch Anton Petrov, GeologyHub, Scott Manley, Fraser Cain, Applied Science, Nile Red, Huygens Optics, or similar stuff for meal time.

  • name checks out

  • Love your name here.

  • In my experience selling it as a whole never happens outright. Buying someone out goes the other way around. I've owned my own business twice.

You will honestly be better off holding your accounts if you ever change your mind or direction. You will get stuck with junk or make selling off stuff your career for a time. If you cannot keep your tools, make some impossible to pass up deal in bulk lots divided so that there is a good distribution of value.

If you placed everything on eBay piecemeal, you will never sell your last item before you die. That is the case on any single platform. I was the buyer for a chain of bike shops for several years. I have sold over $136k on eBay, and I used swap meets to offload overburden too. If anyone consigns for you, if their business model is viable, they will take at least 40% out of the gross margin.

All of eBay's fees, shipping, taxes, all combined with an account in perfect standing came out to 39-42% of the total sale price. So with consignment, you will actually get around 20% of the total sale price or a little less. It is not at all sustainable and why no one runs successful businesses doing eBay consignments. eBay should be less than half their present fees, especially considering the poor quality of service.

Think of offloading stuff from the perspective of the interested individual, not like a business. Part out and sell your excess tooling while still running your business with what you have.

Personally, I don't paint cars any more and if I could physically do the work, I still wouldn't want to. However, many of my tools and stuff are still kicking around and something I do not regret keeping. Quite the opposite, I really wish I had kept what remained of my mixing system, and all of my welding and polishing gear.

  • Yes, but it is likely far less pronounced if you've had a reasonably stable life.

I've had the experience of relocating thousands of miles away multiple times in my life, halved my weight, abandoned the dogmatic tribal mythos of my birth, and have been disabled from a broken neck and back due to the gross ineptitude of a terrible driver. That last one forced me to completely reinvent myself.

One of the hardest relevant experiences was relocating long distance then returning some years later. Nothing will be the same upon return. It will feel just as foreign as moving away to the new place did. Such an experience reveals just how much we all evolve with time and how we are a product of our environment.

Something as simple as living on a hilltop versus on a flat floodplain may have a major impact on how you exercise regularly, and that may shape or come to define you in profound ways. Such changes are essentially a different person. Your hormones, interactions, mood, interests, and sleep patterns are collectively what defines you on a fundamental layer.

That person may have made regretful mistakes. Those mistakes may be very different than who you have become and how you might handle them now. The question here in this post is really about how you perceive those regrets or mistakes now. Are they just a regrettable weight on you, perhaps motivational through the negative feedback of self shame? Or, are you empathetic towards that person, trusting that they did their best at the time, in the environment, given the same pressures and constraints; acknowledging the complexities involved well enough to admit you do not know you would be able to do things better now, even after age and experience? In other words, do you see past the fallacy of dichotomous oversimplification of hindsight to see yourself as a real human? There is room for empathy in that reflective abstract perspective.
