  • missing microwave transformer, HHO electrolysis, cellulose, and nitric acid bro... obviously

  • Uhh no... Idiots are fascists. Some idiots may call themselves liberal but that doesn't make it so. Liberals by definition cannot be fascist. The idiots are those that let fascists parade as anything but.

  • Why is the UK such a hell hole all the sudden? I've never had such a terrible opinion of the place until now with encryption and authoritarian fuckwitism against the last bastion of real democracy on the internet.

  • That is scary fascist

  • I find this deeply disturbing and wish I had not seen it. Not sure why exactly in terms of underlying ethics but there is a sharp reason somewhere in there that tingles at my intuition.

  • Stuff I associate with prolonged suffering would be my threshold. I know the solemn nature of killing for food and survival. In that experience, limiting suffering is essential. It is an experience that often pushes me more towards veganism. Things that remind me of the failures to limit suffering in any being conjure great melancholic empathy that I would struggle to ameliorate.

  • Conservatism is collapsing into irrelevance as a long term commitment.

  • Faces represent approximately 3 billion images of males with mobile devices when accidentally triggering the front facing camera and ejaculatory enterprises. All willing participants opted in on page 189 paragraph 6 footnotes F-K's external reference G in part 89 of the principal work on "You Never Read the TOS" in the library of Congress.

  • What a batass

  • It is not the tool, but is the lazy stupid person that created the implementation. The same stupidity is true of people that run word filtering in conventional code. AI is just an extra set of eyes. It is not absolute. Giving it any kind of unchecked authority is insane. The administrators that implemented this should be what everyone is upset at.

The insane rhetoric around AI is a political and commercial campaign effort by Altmann and proprietary AI looking to become a monopoly. It is a Kremlin scope misinformation campaign that has been extremely successful at roping in the dopes. Don't be a dope.

This situation with AI tools is exactly 100% the same as every past scapegoated tool. I can create undetectable deepfakes in gimp or Photoshop. If I do so with the intent to harm or out of grossly irresponsible stupidity, that is my fault and not the tool. Accessibility of the tool is irrelevant. Those that are dumb enough to blame the tool are the convenient idiot pawns of the worst of humans alive right now. Blame the idiots using the tools that have no morals or ethics in leadership positions while not listening to these same types of people's spurious dichotomy to create monopoly. They prey on conservative ignorance rooted in tribalism and dogma which naturally rejects all unfamiliar new things in life. This is evolutionary behavior and a required mechanism for survival in the natural world. Some will always scatter around the spectrum of possibilities but the center majority is stupid and easily influenced in ways that enable tyrannical hegemony.

AI is not some panacea. It is a new useful tool. Absent minded stupidity is leading to the same kind of dystopian indifference that lead to the ""free internet"" which has destroyed democracy and is the direct cause of most political and social issues in the present world when it normalized digital slavery through ownership over a part of your person for sale, exploitation, and manipulation without your knowledge or consent.

I only say this because I care about you digital neighbor. I know it is useless to argue against dogma but this is the fulcrum of a dark dystopian future that populist dogma is welcoming with open arms of ignorance just like those that said the digital world was a meaningless novelty 30 years ago.

  • Most democratic legislative branches are fundamentally transparent except in very rare instances where disclosure itself causes harm. The study of case law is foundational to the institution.

Imagine a world with a reflective 2 way mirror in a courtroom where your life and wellbeing are decided with anonymity. This is the dystopian equivalent of an anonymous modlog. You fundamentally have a right to see the face and know the name that determines your fate in all matters ranging from life itself to the most trivial quibble. This unalienable right is fundamental to freedom, democracy, self determinism and autonomy.

When I am abused by an authority, I have a fundamental right to avoid them and protect myself from their potential harm. I'm a slave to their misgivings when I do not know the identity of such an authority figure.

No one is a perfect judge of others. These types of places attract narcissistic personalities and those that lack the depth to understand liberalism does not mean tribalism and requires tolerance even when one strongly disagrees on a personal level. I experienced this both on ask Lemmy on .ml and 196 recently. I have the mindset of a citizen and equal. I expect to be able to message anyone that takes action against what I post in good faith and without any harmful intent whatsoever. Taking any actions against such a person without being subject to discussion is the equivalent of going to court and never being allowed to defend yourself. This is undemocratic and reduces the user from a respected citizen and digital neighbor to a peasant caste of subjects with unequal rights and inequality.

Full transparency and openness creates leaders and custodians among equals. Authoritative anonymity creates slaves subject to tyranny.

Benevolent altruism in leadership is honorable and a best case situation but only in the short term. These traits are fleeting with age and certainly not hereditary in humans. The rot of time and the succession crisis is why any institution that relies on the benevolent altruism of one or a few humans always disintegrates into tyranny. Transparency is the check and balance that ejects those that have run their useful course by shining a spotlight on the damage they cause. It also enables those that are in edge case situations to better protect themselves and their individual needs. These are most at risk from the oversimplified policies and tyranny of a closet authoritarian.

  • The mechanism of trust is fundamentally fascist. It should never be required with an authority acting in people's best interests. It sets a precedent for future harm. That is totally unnecessary.

I want to know who I am dealing with in any interaction with authority. I have no respect for any coward in authority that hides their identity. Anyone hiding their authoritative actions loses the benefit of doubt and is presumed criminal. Authority comes with a fundamental responsibility to measure to a higher standard when acting as an authority. Failure to measure to the fundamental requirement of transparency is an offense against the constituency and that citation calls into question all further jurisprudence. Trust is a tool of fascism that always fails because people change with time and there is always the succession crisis. The lack of absolute transparency here is a mortal flaw.

  • Well that seems to suck even worse. The Alexandrite front end and being mod of 3d printing is what grounds me despite grievances.

I think I need to grow up and figure out how to write my own front end for this stuff because being subject to other people's ethics and priorities is not really working out for me. The fundamental liberal ethos around first do no harm, live and let live, and be a good neighbor seem to be dead from both Left and Right fascist ideologues. It appears another great war is coming for new generations to learn the importance of liberalism. Transparency of authority is foundational to ethics of any sort and its absence is deplorable. I feel ashamed for failing to sign my name to each modlog entry in the assumption that I was fundamentally aligned with the instance. How embarrassing it is to now be associated with fascist authoritarianism by nonconsensual proxy.

  • Lemmy mod log is authoritarian shit that does not say who took actions. It is cowardly garbage that should absolutely be the lynch pin for this place unless transparency is restored immediately.

  • C. It contains China's eastern seaboard which is the dominant prosperity region of this century. The stable long term planning and responsible investment into people is unrivalled and only beginning to pay back return on that investment.

  • I think it is bots everywhere. Yeah, I have seen new and unused accounts post stuff with a clearly political agenda. We are in the age of individual targeting. A single very skilled dev could substantially alter public zeitgeist. It has become common for scripted botnets to exist. The idea of a nation like Israel the US or Russia creating such influence is well within scope. Russia brags about their ability to shape public opinion. I think the most influential people are actually not the super popular influencers. I think the real influencers are the next layer deeper like many people here. Super popular people are repackaging the things that people in places like here are not very good at communicating at scale. Maybe it is just my bias, but I often do projects and share ideas I have never seen before then watch others do them better than myself in ways that are far more popular than mine. I have no delusion of grandeur, it is just a pattern I've spotted a few times in life and seen it happen to others. The masses are mostly like a school of fish or mice following the piper blindly. People that are capable of thinking for themselves are the ones to watch carefully.
