  • Some people struggle to make the split between religious people and religious extremists.

Not all Muslims are part of ISIS, not all Jews are Zionists. I don't know what's so difficult.

  • 404 media doesn't make you create an account, they just send you a link to your email, but having to create a throwaway email every time so they can't track what I read is a hassle I just don't care enough for. I'll either skip the article or use a proxy.

  • Teeeeeeeeeeechnically, the term is correct, the Nazi regime did offer socialist benefits... Only for those they considered "nationals", hence NatSoc.

Socialism alone does not guarantee democracy nor freedom of speech, it is strictly a financial system where the means of production are owned by society. The prefix "national" then defines who that society is.

  • I want to run my own voice processing service, ideally. Something that runs off of my home assistant server, would be cool if it made use of a Coral AI or similar.

  • My understanding is the software is the problem, I don't understand why though.

  • Is it easy to set up a smart speaker with Home Assistant? Last I heard, it was kind of a PITA.

  • In Canada, it can be done through Interac.

  • No! This is Patrick!

  • and welcome to JAPAN FRANCE

  • Ok, I didn't need you to act as a middle man to tell me what the LLM just hallucinated, I can do this myself.

The point is that raw AI output provides absolutely no value to a conversation, and is thus noisy and rude.

When we ask questions on a public forum, we're looking to talk to people about their own experience and research through the lens of their own being and expertise. We're all capable of prompting an AI agent. If we wanted AI answers, we'd prompt an AI agent.

  • IRC makes sense in a world where people register to bouncers, which allow people to connect to any IRC network they please.

  • Yeah that would definitely rule it out. Your original theory may be correct, fishtank water contains more minerals and microorganisms.

  • Do you think they may be tasting the chlorine in their water bowl? I've read somewhere that mammals can generally taste chlorine in the water, humans included though we're used to it. Your fish tank likely has no chlorine in it and is "moving water" thanks to the filter.

I know my dog prefers filtered water to tap water because he's a little prince.

  • That mix sounds like a miso soup tbh 😁

  • fish flavoured

  • What's your point?

  • And possibly other stuff, too.

    Ehhh don't test me

  • I've been thinking about something similar for use with cloud storage so it can be used to sync tools to the cloud without requiring a specific backend.

Basically, a .config directory at the root of your cloud storage to hold SQLite DBs of your applications whose configs you want to back up to the cloud.
