I've heard this lack of content anxiety since 2023, have yet to see any evidence of it, while more and more content shows up by the second, and I have nearly all of the power users blocked.
Reddit. They were irritating, so I left, but I couldn't care less if someone posts content here from teddit or(apparently gods forbid) mentions reddit.
I do not care about whatever happens with that company any more than I care about Apple or McDonald's or any other company with shitty products I don't engage with.
It doesn't look like it was a lobbying thing. More a pro privacy thing. A ton of Californians had unlisted numbers and didn't want to be revealed, or victims could be tracked by their abusers through caller ID, and privacy advocates said that people shouldn't have their number public without their consent.
but they couldn't figure out how to regulate it properly, so the issue was eventually dropped.
